Soul and blues singer Robert Finley's second studio album, Goin’ Platinum!, is out now via Dan Auerbach's label, Easy Eye Sound, which is distributed by Nonesuch Records. "He's the greatest living soul singer as far as I'm concerned," says Auerbach. Finley is surrounded by all-time-great session musicians with skill to match his singular voice, including drummer Gene Chrisman (Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin), keys player Bobby Woods (JJ Cale, Bobby Womack), horns players from Preservation Hall, and legendary guitarist Duane Eddy. Goin’ Platinum! was co-written and produced by Auerbach and also features writing credits by legendary songwriters John Prine, Nick Lowe, and Pat McLaughlin.

Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet’s Landfall is due February 16, 2018. The piece, which was inspired by Anderson’s experience of Hurricane Sandy, is the first collaboration between the artists, who perform together on the recording. Landfall juxtaposes lush electronics and strings with Anderson’s powerful descriptions of loss, from water-logged pianos to disappearing animal species to Dutch karaoke bars. The Way Is Read, an album by the English trio The Staves and NYC-based ensemble yMusic, released digitally last week, is now available on limited-edition vinyl. "Developed from a live collaboration," says a four-star review in the Evening Standard, "the siblings' voices are blended seamlessly with the instrumentation on haunting, experimental compositions where folk and contemporary classical meet halfway." The Sunday Times of London calls it "wonderful."

The Staves and yMusic release The Way Is Read, a new album stemming from a collaboration at Justin Vernon's Eaux Claires Festival, digitally on November 24, on vinyl December 1. "We wanted to feel like instruments and join in with some of yMusic's existing work," says The Staves's Emily Staveley-Taylor, "using our voices in ways we hadn't previously explored." Rob Moose of yMusic adds: "It was as much a thrill to hear songs emerge organically over sections of intricate chamber music as it was satisfying to strip songs of the instrument that created them in order to craft new connective tissue." Natalie Merchant's hit 1995 song "Wonder" now opens Wonder: Introducing Natalie Merchant, a new collection on streaming services. The set include singles and fan favorites, beginning with "Wonder" from her debut solo album, Tigerlily, and closing with the 2015 recording of the song for Paradise Is There: The New Tigerlily Recordings. Robert Plant's new album, Carry Fire, is out now. As with his 2014 album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, it features his band The Sensational Space Shifters. They are also joined here by special guests, including Chrissie Hynde. NPR calls the album "transfixing ... rivetingly intimate." The New York Times calls it "a swirling mix of deep blues, mountain music, North African rhythms and Zeppelin-heavy weight." The AP says: "There are few undisputed rock stars this accomplished still taking musical risks. Plant’s songwriting remains a class above ... 'Out here the fire's still burning / So long into my night,' he sings. Long may it burn."

The award-winning French singer and composer Camille's fifth studio album, OUÏ, is out now in the US on Nonesuch. Recorded over a year in La Chartreuse, a 14th-century monastery-turned-artist's residence in Avignon, OUÏ features folk music, hymns, ballads, pop, lullabies, and a cappella, with Camille on all vocal parts and all but one song in French. "A Parisian pop genius," says Pitchfork. "OUÏ is rich with brilliant, funny ideas about conception, nature, and identity, with plenty of pure pleasure hits for non-Francophones." Camille performs an intimate album-release show at (Le) Poisson Rouge in NYC on Monday, October 16.

Chris Thile's new album, Thanks for Listening, will be released on Nonesuch Records on December 8, 2017; vinyl on December 15. The album is a collection of new studio recordings, produced by Thomas Bartlett, of ten songs originally written as Songs of the Week on A Prairie Home Companion. Thile manned almost all of the stringed instruments on the album and is joined by guest singers Sarah Jarosz, Gaby Moreno, and Aoife O'Donovan. Louis Andriessen's stagework Theatre of the World—recorded live during the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2016 world premiere performances with conductor Reinbert de Leeuw and director Pierre Audi—is out now on Nonesuch Records. The Los Angeles Times says: "Brilliant and deep, Andriessen's music compels from start to finish." "There are no limits to where Louis Andriessen’s imagination will take him," says the Financial Times; "a wild mix of opera, jazz, modernism and minimalism, all captured vividly in this live recording." The Guardian gives four stars to "the exemplary Nonesuch recording" and its "superb performances."

Richard Goode's Beethoven: The Complete Sonatas, first released on Nonesuch in 1993 and nominated for a Grammy Award, is available once again on CD, now at a new, lower price. The box set includes ten individual CD sleeves and a forty-page booklet with the original liner note by the late musicologist Michael Steinberg. "An outstanding set," exclaims the New York Times. "It is hard to think of any other artist at once technically, temperamentally and intellectually as suited to the challenges of these sonatas." The Guardian calls it "superb." Gramophone says it's "one of the finest interpretations ever put on record."
