    Paul Thomas Anderson was on NPR's Fresh Air to discuss his new film, Phantom Thread, including Jonny Greenwood's score, which is "great," says host Terry Gross. The music "is so good," she tells Anderson. "There's something so operatic about the movie because there's underscoring throughout almost the entire film. So there's almost always music playing. And it's often not playing quietly in the background. It's pretty upfront much of the time."

    The Staves and yMusic were on Live From Here with Chris Thile, broadcast live from The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday, performing three songs from their new album, The Way Is Read: the title track, "Trouble on My Mind," and "All My Life." The Staves also joined Thile and the show's other guests, Jeff Tweedy, Sarah Jarosz, and Punch Brothers, to perform the Pogues' Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York."     Punch Brothers were the house band on Live From Here with Chris Thile, broadcast live from The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday. The group debuted a new song, "Locked In," as the Song of the Week, and joined the week's guests on several songs, including Jeff Tweedy on Wilco's "Poor Places." You can watch both here. The band will perform on a special holiday edition of CBS This Morning's Saturday Sessions on December 23.

    Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold and Casey Wescott stopped by BBC Radio 6 Music to perform "If You Need To, Keep Time on Me," from their album Crack-Up on the Lauren Laverne show. Pecknold spoke with Laverne about the album and the ongoing tour and gave a solo take on the Jimmy Webb (via Nina Simone) song "Do What You Gotta Do." You can hear the set here. The European tour continues through next week. The band will tour Australia, New Zealand, and Asia in December and January.

    French singer/composer Camille has created a Spotify playlist, "Voix et Percussion" (Voice and Percussion), from a mix she made for Pitchfork Radio during last week's Pitchfork Festival in Paris.     Conor Oberst stopped by KEXP in Seattle during a recent tour stop in the city to perform four songs from his new albums, Salutations and Ruminations, and talk with host Troy Nelson about the music. You can watch the session here. Oberst also performed on PBS's Bluegrass Underground with The Felice Brothers as his backing band. The set was filmed live at the Volcano Room, a subterranean amphitheater 333 feet below McMinnville, TN, at historic Cumberland Caverns.

    Robert Plant spoke with WFUV's Paul Cavalconte for FUV Live. Their conversation will air tonight and can be heard now at wfuv.org. Plant's new album, Carry Fire, has been named WFUV's New Dig. "Carry Fire is a vibrant collection of songs that speaks powerfully to this era, its politics, and its contradictions," says WFUV's Darren DeVivo. "It's also a testament to Plant's artistry; over the past decade, he's released some of the strongest albums of his solo career. Few musicians have been able to constantly transform themselves quite like Plant, with such ease, grace and inspiration."

    Rostam was a guest on CBC's Q. He spoke with host Tom Power about the making of his debut album, Half-Light, and performed two songs from the album: a unique piano-and-vocal version of "Don't Let It Get to You" and the title track. "It's a beautiful song," says Power after the latter. "Isn't it gorgeous?" Hear for yourself here.
