Conor Oberst recently stopped by the NPR offices while on tour with special guests Dawes, to perform a Tiny Desk Concert featuring four songs off Oberst's new album, Upside Down Mountain. "Conor Oberst's new album has fast become my favorite of the Bright Eyes singer's solo projects," says host Bob Boilen, "so having him come to NPR and perform a few of these songs at the Tiny Desk was especially exciting. The new music on Upside Down Mountain contains the sort of personal songwriting that got me loving him in the first place." Watch it here.

The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney recently stopped by Grimey's record store in Nashville to look through the vinyl stacks and talk with CBS's Anthony Mason about the recent resurgence in vinyl. The piece, titled "Vinyl's Got Its Groove Back," which aired on today's CBS This Morning, delves into what makes vinyl so special, looks at how it's made, considers its unique sound and feel, and talks to the band mates, "avid fans of the vinyl LP," about why it was so important to them that their latest album, Turn Blue, as with all their earlier albums, be released on vinyl. Congratulations to Audra McDonald, winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. This marks a historic sixth Tony Award win for McDonald, the most ever for a performer. Watch her acceptance speech here. She recently won the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for her portrayal of the legendary jazz singer. 

Nickel Creek recently stopped by Last.fm to discuss their new album, A Dotted Line, and the band's officially reuniting for the first time since its 2007 self-described "indefinite hiatus." The trio—Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, and Sean Watkins—also performs two songs from the new album, "Destination" and "Rest of My Life." Conor Oberst's video for "Zigzagging Toward the Light," off his recently released Nonesuch Records debut album, Upside Down Mountain, premiered via Rolling Stone, which calls the album Oberst's "best work in years." The video was directed by David Altobelli and shot in New York City. You can watch it here. The songs on the new album, asserts a new Wall Street Journal review, "stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his best writing."

Conor Oberst capped off a week celebrating the release of his new album, Upside Down Mountain, with an appearance on CBS This Morning: Saturday. He was backed by the band Dawes to perform two tracks from the new album: “Hundreds of Ways” and “You Are Your Mother’s Child.” You can watch both, as well as a web-exclusive performance of “Time Forgot” below. Oberst’s tour with Dawes as special guests continues in the Midwest this week.

Conor Oberst was musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC last night, joined by Dawes to perform "Zigzagging Toward the Light," off his just-released album, Upside Down Mountain. He recently stopped by Last.fm to talk about and perform "Hundreds of Ways" and "Double Life" off the new album. Natalie Merchant joined The School of Life founder and philosopher Alain de Botton for a public conversation about her new, self-titled album, last night in London. During the event, she unveiled a new video for the album track "Lulu." The video features film excerpts from Pandora's Box, the 1929 silent film directed by G.W. Pabst and starring Louise Brooks, the subject of the song. Watch it here. The Black Keys marked the release of their new album, Turn Blue, yesterday with an appearance on The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. The band spoke with Stephen Colbert about the new album and performed the single "Fever." Nickel Creek's video for "Destination," off their new album, A Dotted Line, received its world premiere via NPR Music's "First Watch" feature. The video was directed by Eli Cane of Normal Life Pictures and shot in New York City during release week for A Dotted Line. You can watch the video here.

The Black Keys’ music video for “Fever” premiered this morning and can now be viewed here. The single, which is #1 on AAA radio for the third straight week and #3 on Alternative radio, is from the duo’s new album, Turn Blue, which will be released May 13 on Nonesuch Records. In celebration of the release, the band will return to Saturday Night Live for their third musical guest appearance on May 10.
