Daughter of Swords, aka Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, has shared a new song, "Fields of Gold," from her upcoming album, Dawnbreaker. You can watch the lyric video, which features drawings by Sauser-Monnig and animation by Robert Edridge-Waks, below. Stereogum, which premiered the video, says of the track: "It shimmers and shines like a ray of light, a true field of gold if you will."

Devendra Banhart's new album, Ma, is due September 13, 2019, on Nonesuch Records. With tender, autobiographical vignettes, Ma displays a shift from the sonic experimentation of his previous albums to an intricate, captivating story-telling and emotional intimacy. Banhart favors organic sounds to accompany his voice and guitar, the arrangements bolstered by strings, woodwinds, brass, and keyboards. The album was produced by his longtime musical compadre Noah Georgeson and includes a background vocal from Cate Le Bon and a duet with Banhart's mentor, muse, and dear friend Vashti Bunyan. "The vision of this powerful person alone on a bike trip not asking permission from anyone appeared out of nowhere, and took up residence in my mind," she says of the video. "Like my subconscious staging an intervention and reminding me that I haven't died, there are no rules, and that I have the power to make different choices for myself." You can watch it here.

Lake Street Dive's own Rachael Price was on public radio's Live From Here from St. Louis. She joined host Chris Thile and the band, which included Gabriel Kahane and Punch Brothers' Chris Eldridge, on several songs, including "Lullaby of Broadway," in tribute to Doris Day, and Tom Waits's "Take It With Me." Kahane also performed his song "October 1, 1939 / Port of Hamburg" with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. You can watch all three here.

Rhiannon Giddens, who begins her four-night residency with the Boston Pops titled Redefining American Music tonight, stopped by Boston's Museum of Fine Arts to perform a few tunes in the museum's Musical Instruments Gallery. She takes a look at the MFA's historical banjo collection and plays one of the banjos and sings, with Carolina Chocolate Drops' Hubby Jenkins on bones and Jason Sypher on bass. The Black Keys have released the music video for their new song "Go," from their upcoming album "Let's Rock." The video is directed by Bryan Schlam and finds the band struggling to reconnect after five years apart. Pat Carney says, "It was great making this video with Bryan, partially because it was filmed at the very type of place it is making fun of," and Dan Auerbach adds, "The video was fun, but we still haven't spoken." Brad Mehldau has released "O Ephraim," a song from his new album, Finding Gabriel, which is out next Friday, May 17, on Nonesuch. On the song, Mehldau performs on OB-6 Polyphonic synthesizer, vocals, Steinway C grand piano, drums, Fender Rhodes, Musser Ampli-Celeste, and Morfbeats gamelan strips. A video for the song, featuring artwork by Dima Drjuchin animated by Robert Edridge-Waks, premiered on WBGO this morning. You can watch it here.

Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi performed several songs from their new album, there is no Other, out this Friday, and spoke with WNYC's Alison Stewart at The Greene Space in NYC last night. "Your talent is so stunning," says Stewart, "and it really does transport one, so thank you." You can watch the performance, with bassist Jason Sypher, and interview here. Singer Mandy Patinkin and pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett's Diary: December 2018, the third in their Diary series of musical installments, is out now on Nonesuch. The digital release’s eleven songs were recorded by the two musicians in Bartlett’s New York studio last December and include two songs written by Patinkin himself plus songs by Paul Simon, Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields), Randy Newman, Biff Rose, Teitur, and John Grant. A thirty-city Mandy Patinkin in Concert: Diaries begins in October 2019; details will be announced this summer.

Attacca Quartet performed music from Caroline Shaw’s Orange live at The Greene Space in NYC last Friday, ahead of the album’s release this coming Friday. The performance was streamed live via WNYC's New Sounds and can be seen again in full here. Shaw was the featured artist on the first episode in the new series of BBC Radio 3’s Unclassified, showcasing "genre-exploding new music for curious ears, hearts and minds," on Sunday. "I love it ... absolutely gorgeous music," says presenter Elizabeth Alker, who gave the radio premiere plays of two album tracks.
