Laurie Anderson is on the latest episode of The Adam Buxton Podcast. She talks with Buxton about the release of her debut album, Big Science, on red vinyl this coming Friday and more, like collaborating with a supercomputer, her mind-reading experiment with David Bowie, and the importance of community. "People are making their own pods and realizing we're not living in one big world. The world is way too big for that," she says. Laurie Anderson was on BBC Two's Newsnight to talk with Kirsty Wark about her 1982 debut album, Big Science, which Nonesuch is releasing on red vinyl next month, and more. "The themes in it—the ideas of transportation, politics, money, love—in a sense, they're universal," says Wark. "I suppose they work for every generation." Kronos Quartet and Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi will perform free for Carnegie Hall's first-ever online festival, Voices of Hope, April 16–30. The two-week festival examines the life-affirming power of music and the arts during times of crisis through more than 100 events, including programming presented by Carnegie Hall and more than 40 cultural and academic institutions across New York City and beyond. Kronos Quartet performs works by Terry Riley and others on April 24, and Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turris perform from their new album, They're Calling Me Home, on April 28.

Lake Street Dive is on the latest episode of eTown. Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part, an album of songs written and performed by Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion, is due June 25 on Nonesuch Records. k.d. lang’s makeover, a new collection of classic dance remixes of some of her best-loved songs, is due May 28 on Nonesuch Records, including on translucent turquoise vinyl. The conversation centers on I Still Play, the 2020 album of new solo piano works by artists who have recorded for Nonesuch, written in honor of Hurwitz: Anderson, Andres, John Adams, Louis Andriessen, Donnacha Dennehy, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, Brad Mehldau, Steve Reich, Pat Metheny, and Randy Newman. Andres will perform from I Still Play at the 2021 Ojai Music Festival, of which John Adams is Music Director.
