Celebrate Brooklyn!—one of New York City's longest running, free, outdoor performing arts festivals—has announced the complete line-up for this summer's concert series in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Among the featured performers this year are Nonesuch artists Punch Brothers, Rhiannon Giddens, and Sam Amidon. You can see the complete line-up in the highly-recommended announcement video below.

Singer/fiddler/banjoist/guitarist Sam Amidon joins guitarist Bill Frisell, a longtime hero, for a performance in the bandshell on Thursday, June 18. Amidon and Frisell have performed together in the past—notably on Amidon's latest album, Lily-O—but this is the first time they will do so with the Bill Frisell Trio, which includes drummer Kenny Wollesen and mulit-instrumentalist Tony Scherr. The New York Times called Lily-O "hauntingly beautiful." The album "showcases his ability to transform music," says NPR. "Every little unexpected twist shimmers with originality ... His highly personal approach opens a window on the American past and lets us feel it like nothing else around." Also performing on June 18 are eighth blackbird and singer-songwriter Will Oldham on a program that will include Frederic Rzewski's spoken word piece Coming Together.

Punch Brothers hit the Celebrate Brooklyn! stage on Thursday, July 9, on a tour of summer festivals that starts with the Bonnaroo and Telluride Bluegrass in June. The band performs songs from their T Bone Burnett–produced new album, The Phosphorescent Blues, which the CBC called "triumphant," and much more. Also on the bill is multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Sarah Jarosz, who has toured with Punch Brothers and is collaborating on a new project with Sara Watkins and Aoife O’Donovan.

Rhiannon Giddens brings the music of her solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn, also produced by Burnett, to Prospect Park on Saturday, July 18. The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and founding member of Carolina Chocolate Drops, is currently touring the US with music from the new album, which the New York Times has called "a showcase for Ms. Giddens’s glorious voice ... a perpetually soulful marvel." Also performing that evening is Joe Henry, who happens to have produced Carolina Chocolate Drops' Grammy Award–winning Nonesuch debut album, Genuine Negro Jig, not to mention Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell's new album, The Traveling Kind, among others.

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.

The Staves' new EP Happy New Year, out today, includes three acoustic versions of tracks from their new album, All Now—"I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," "After School," and "All Now"—and a cover of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." Also out now: an acoustic performance video for "After School," which the duo calls "a love song to our sister Emily inspired by the bands we were listening to in the '90s. Putting on the rose-tinted glasses and embracing nostalgia."
