Last week, the staff at NPR Music announced their 25 Favorite Albums of 2012 (So Far), including Dr. John's Locked Down and Jeremy Denk's Ligeti/Beethoven. NPR listeners have now weighed in. Their list of the year's best albums (so far) includes those two albums and adds Amadou & Mariam's Folila, Sara Watkins' Sun Midnight Sun, and the new album of works by Krzysztof Penderecki and Jonny Greenwood. Says NPR: "The poll results reconfirmed that we've got another great year of music on our hands."

Last week, the staff at NPR Music announced their 25 Favorite Albums of 2012 (So Far), which included two Nonesuch albums—Dr. John's Locked Down and Jeremy Denk's Ligeti/Beethoven—and their 50 Favorite Songs of 2012 (So Far), which included Amadou & Mariam's "Dougou Badia" (featuring Santigold), off their new Because/Nonesuch album, Folila. After announcing its own favorites, NPR opened up the polls to its listeners to get their opinion on the topic, and the results are now in.

It seems that the listeners agree with the NPR staff: they've including the aforementioned Dr. John, Jeremy Denk, and Amadou & Mariam albums on their eclectic list of the year's best albums (so far). The listeners have also added two additional Nonesuch releases to their best-of list as well: Sara Watkins' Sun Midnight Sun and the new album pairing works by Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki with those they inspired by composer/guitarist Jonny Greenwood.

"Most importantly," writes NPR producer Robin Hilton, "the poll results reconfirmed that we've got another great year of music on our hands."
