When the 10th annual Record Store Day celebration took place last month, among the special items were new vinyl releases featuring classic titles from three artists familiar to readers of the Nonesuch Journal: Allen Toussaint, Emmylou Harris, and Randy Newman. A limited number of all three vinyl releases is now available in the Nonesuch Store.

The Allen Toussaint Collection, a 1991 compilation of tracks from the legendary New Orleans musician's first four albums—From a Whisper to a Scream; Life, Love and Faith; Southern Nights; and Motion—receives its first-ever vinyl release in this two-LP, three-sided pressing, limited to 1,500. The fourth side of the vinyl features an etching of a quotation from Toussaint. All Music Guide calls the set "one of the greatest greatest hits albums of '70s soul, funk, and R&B." The Amsterdam-based duo of Bolivian-born singer/instrumentalist Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and Chicago ex-pat jazz drummer Frank Rosaly have released a remix of "BALADA PARA LA CORPORATOCRACIA," from their debut album, MESTIZX, by Andy Moor, of the Dutch anarcho-punk band The Ex. "Andy has so much experience with communal music from around the globe ... but he’s also lived the life of a musical activist, which is apparent in everything he does," Ferragutti and Rosaly say. "We didn’t think 'BALADA PARA LA CORPORATOCRACIA' could get any filthier, but he proved us wrong!" Ferragutti, Rosaly, and their band tour the US in March, with shows in Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, NYC, and Big Ears Festival in Knoxville.
