Christina Courtin's self-titled Nonesuch debut is due out tomorrow. The Huffington Post's Mike Ragogna says it's the mix of a multitude of sounds and styles that makes the album "a wonderful concoction, with intoxicating moody numbers such as the quite simple 'Bundah' ... and its gorgeous lines like 'the stars burn bright for you' that sit you by your East Village walk-up's windowsill, looking out at a cloudy late-afternoon."

Ragogna also calls attention to the track, "February," as "one of the most alluring sirens of the record," after noting that, overall, its "Courtin's toasty-warm, reassuring vocal" that gives the album its balance. It's "the artist's lilting, breathy voice," he asserts, that "steers her adventures through layers of hypnotic music and production."

Christina performs the album track "Foreign Country" with guitarist Ryan Scott in a video for Time Out New York's "The Volume." The magazine's music writer Jay Ruttenberg calls the record "superb" and "beautifully textured, with contributions from hotshots like Jon Brion and Benmont Tench, but it pivots around Courtin’s commanding voice." Watch the performance, recorded on a pier on New York's Hudson River, at www3.timeoutny.com.

The Juilliard School graduate is featured as the subject of New York magazine's "Breaking" section. She gives the magazine a first-person account of her evolution as a singer-songwriter, from her early days singing along to songs on her Walkman through the first public expression of her vocal talents while studying the violin at Juilliard. Read it in Christina's own words at nymag.com.

Fans in the New York City area can join Christina as she celebrates the record release with a concert at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village this Wednesday. Coming this weekend is the first of two dates in Philadelphia, at the Tin Angel, followed by a Monday night show at World Café Live. Up next month is a performance at the Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles. For tour information, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

The twenty-seven disc box set Steve Reich Collected Works is due March 14, 2025, on Nonesuch. It features music recorded during the composer's forty years on the label—six decades of his compositions, including first recordings of his two latest works, Jacob’s Ladder and Traveler’s Prayer—plus two extensive booklets with new essays by Robert Hurwitz, Michael Tilson Thomas, Russell Hartenberger, Judith Sherman, and Nico Muhly, and a comprehensive listener’s guide by Timo Andres. Nonesuch made its first record with Steve Reich in 1985; he was signed exclusively to the label that year. Collected Works includes twenty-four discs of Nonesuch recordings and three from other labels.
