Jessica Lea Mayfield’s Nonesuch Records debut, Tell Me, will be released February 8. Produced by The Black KeysDan Auerbach, the album follows Mayfield’s acclaimed 2008 release, With Blasphemy So Heartfelt, which debuted in the CMJ Top 200 and in the Top 50 on the “Indie Albums” chart. Pitchfork gave that album an 8.2, calling it "fascinating and endlessly listenable." The New York Times has described her voice as "somewhere between Lucinda Williams’ and Hope Sandoval’s." NPR's World Cafe says she has "a mature sound that seems evolved beyond her years."

Tell Me is now available to pre-order here in the Nonesuch Store, where the first 250 CD or vinyl copies include an exclusive signed 7” of the album’s first single, “Our Hearts Are Wrong.” (The B-side is a live version of the With Blasphemy So Heartfelt song “Kiss Me Again.”)

Mayfield first came to the label’s attention when she sang backing vocals on The Black Keys’ 2008 Nonesuch album, Attack & Release. Her performance on the track “Things Ain’t Like They Used to Be” made the then 17-year-old the first guest vocalist to appear on any record released by the acclaimed duo. In addition to producing, Auerbach also engineered the 11-track album and provided backing vocals as well as guitar and drum loops.

Since the release of With Blasphemy So Heartfelt in 2008, Mayfield has toured alongside numerous renowned artists, including The Avett Brothers, Ray LaMontagne, Band of Horses, and The Black Keys. In advance of the release, Mayfield will tour throughout the fall and winter, including dates with Jay Farrar and Justin Townes Earle. See the currently scheduled tour dates below and visit nonesuch.com/on-tour for more information.

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.

Composer and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire’s honey from a winter stone is out January 17, 2025, on Nonesuch Records. The album, which Ambrose calls a “self-portrait,” features improvisational vocalist Kokayi, pianist Sam Harris, Chiquitamagic on synthesizer, drummer Justin Brown, and the Mivos Quartet. Akinmusire says, “In many respects this entire work is inspired by and is an homage to the work of the composer Julius Eastman and his organic music concept." The opening track, “muffled screams,” is out now.
