Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau, who recently concluded a US duo tour and will be bringing the show to Europe next week, are now slated to perform together for three duo shows in Australia in January. Redman and Mehldau will perform two shows in Sydney—at the Concourse Chatswood Concert Hall and City Recital Hall Angel Place—as part of the 2012 Sydney Festival and one at the Melbourne Recital Centre. The US duo tour resumes in the spring.

Redman and Mehldau's two Sydney shows are part of the recently announced 2012 Sydney Festival line-up, which also includes several performances from Fatoumata Diawara, whose debut EP, Kanou, was released on Nonesuch in September. Brad Mehldau and Joshua Redman were recently named best in their field in the 76th annual DownBeat Reader's Poll, as was fellow Nonesuch artist Pat Metheny. Mehldau's 2011 solo album, Live in Marciac, was named Best Jazz Album of the Year. Mehldau and Redman can be heard performing together on Mehldau's 2010 album Highway Rider.     American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America.
