Lake Street Dive, following sold-out shows in London and Dublin this spring, and performances on both BBC Two's Later… with Jools Holland and RTÉ's The Late Late Show, will return to Europe this autumn for a tour of the UK and Ireland. The November run includes dates in Gateshead, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, Belfast, Dublin, and Cork, and a London show at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on November 10. The band's Nonesuch Records debut album, Side Pony, was released in February to critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone describing the album as "pop with a timeless feel," and NPR announcing, "2016 will be the year Lake Street Dive becomes a household name." Tickets go on sale this Thursday, May 26. See below for the newly announced tour dates; for the complete schedule, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour. The band resumes its US tour this Friday.

The four band members—drummer Michael Calabrese, bassist Bridget Kearney, singer Rachael Price, and guitarist/trumpeter Michael "McDuck" Olson—worked with Nashville-based producer Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton) on Side Pony, which takes its name from a song on the record that refers to a whimsical hairstyle, but it also serves as a metaphor for Lake Street Dive's philosophy and personality as a band. As Kearney puts it, "When we were settling on the album title, that one just stuck out to us as embodying the band's spirit. We've always been this somewhat uncategorizable, weird, outlying, genre-less band. That's the statement we wanted to make with this record: be yourself." Olson echoes her sentiment: "It has also come to mean anything you're doing for the sheer joy of it. We have always 'rocked our side pony.' Now we have a convenient phrase for it."

To pick up a copy of Side Pony, head to iTunes, Amazon, or the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout, and the 96kHz/24bit HD digital album is also available to purchase.

David Longstreth’s Song of the Earth, a song cycle for orchestra and voices, is due April 4. Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage. Acknowledgement flecked with hope, irony, humor, rage.”

Composer Steve Reich talks about creating his 1970–71 piece Drumming—which the Village Voice hailed as “the most important work of the whole minimalist music movement"—in a new video from his publisher Boosey & Hawkes. Steve Reich and Musicians gave the world premiere performance of Drumming at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC in December 1971. Their 1987 Nonesuch recording is included in the forthcoming Steve Reich Collected Works, a twenty-seven disc box set, due March 14.
