Lake Street Dive—following an appearance on the Today show on NBC last month—returns to the road to resume its North American tour with a performance at the Iroquois Amphitheater in Louisville on Wednesday. The extensive, two-and-a-half month tour includes stops in St. Louis, Boulder, Salt Lake City, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Northampton, and more, leading into September for a three-night run at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Washington, as a special guest of Dave Matthews Band. The tour continues with headline shows in Nashville, Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Madison, Birmingham, Knoxville, and others, concluding in the Northeast US in October with shows at the Wang Theatre in Boston and Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and two nights at Union Transfer in Philadelphia. The band then heads to the UK and Ireland to tour in November.

"Call Off Your Dogs," from the band’s Nonesuch debut album, Side Pony, was recently included on Public Radio's Top 10 Songs Of 2016 (So Far) from NPR. "What a phenomenon Lake Street Dive is," writes World Cafe host David Dye in the list. "The band sounds like little else in 2016, with bits of jazz and Motown mixed into its yet up-to-date sound. As great a powerhouse lead singer as Rachael Price is, it's the cohesion of all four band members that makes Lake Street Dive's newest album, Side Pony, unique."

To pick up a copy of Side Pony, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout.

David Longstreth’s Song of the Earth, a song cycle for orchestra and voices, is due April 4. Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage. Acknowledgement flecked with hope, irony, humor, rage.”

Composer Steve Reich talks about creating his 1970–71 piece Drumming—which the Village Voice hailed as “the most important work of the whole minimalist music movement"—in a new video from his publisher Boosey & Hawkes. Steve Reich and Musicians gave the world premiere performance of Drumming at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC in December 1971. Their 1987 Nonesuch recording is included in the forthcoming Steve Reich Collected Works, a twenty-seven disc box set, due March 14.
