Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway have released a cover of Jefferson Airplane’s 1967 hit "White Rabbit," available only on Amazon Music. "I have loved the story of Alice In Wonderland since I read the book as a kid and played the Queen of Hearts in my school play,” Tuttle says. "Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane is from Palo Alto, CA, just like me, and this song gives me the nostalgic feeling of growing up, but recording it also pushed my band forward into new territory musically." Tuttle and the band can be seen on PBS's The Caverns Sessions this Saturday.

Singer, songwriter, and guitar player Molly Tuttle and her band Golden Highway have released a cover of “White Rabbit,” Jefferson Airplane’s 1967 hit written by Grace Slick, available only on Amazon Music. You can hear it here. Tuttle’s take on the tune coincides with the AmericanaFest, happening this week in Nashville, where they played a showcase last night.
“I have loved the story of Alice in Wonderland since I read the book as a kid and played the Queen of Hearts in my school play,” Tuttle says. “I chose to cover ‘White Rabbit’ back in the fall of 2020 for a live stream of songs by San Francisco Bay Area artists. Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane is from Palo Alto, CA, just like me, and this song gives me the nostalgic feeling of growing up, but recording it also pushed my band forward into new territory musically. This is the first song I have arranged, produced and recorded from the ground up with the band members that I've been on the road with all year. Golden Highway—aka Shelby Means, Dominick Leslie, Kyle Tuttle, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes—and I have formed a strong musical bond after playing almost 100 shows together this year. Each band member brought ideas to the table, making this a truly collaborative effort.”
Tuttle and the band can be seen on PBS stations across the US on The Caverns Sessions, formerly known as Bluegrass Underground this Saturday. The set was taped deep within the subterranean amphitheater of The Caverns in Tennessee's Cumberland Mountains. You can watch a preview performance of the title track to their debut album, Crooked Tree, here:

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.
The Staves' new EP Happy New Year, out today, includes three acoustic versions of tracks from their new album, All Now—"I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," "After School," and "All Now"—and a cover of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." Also out now: an acoustic performance video for "After School," which the duo calls "a love song to our sister Emily inspired by the bands we were listening to in the '90s. Putting on the rose-tinted glasses and embracing nostalgia."
