Congratulations to all of the Nonesuch artists who were nominated for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, announced earlier today by The Recording Academy: The Black Keys, Nickel Creek, Chris Thile & Edgar Meyer, John Adams, and Brad Mehldau. Together, these artists' Nonesuch releases have garnered a total of 11 nominations this year. The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on "Grammy Sunday," February 8, 2015, in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS.

Congratulations to all of the Nonesuch Records artists who were nominated for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, announced earlier today by The Recording Academy: The Black Keys, Nickel Creek, Chris Thile & Edgar Meyer, John Adams, and Brad Mehldau. Together, these artists' Nonesuch releases have garnered a total of 11 nominations this year.

The Black Keys' have been nominated for three Grammy Awards this year: Best Rock Album for Turn Blue; Best Rock Performance for the album's first single, "Fever"; and Best Rock Song for band mates Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney as well as Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse), all three of whom produced the new album. Turn Blue has been named one of the Best Albums of 2014 by Rolling Stone, which calls it "a giant step into the best, most consistently gripping album the Keys have ever made."

Chris Thile was a part of two projects this year that together earned five nominations. Nickel Creek, the trio of Thile, Sara Watkins, and Sean Watkins, reunited to release A Dotted Line, and has been nominated for Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Performance. Thile's duo record with bassist Edgar Meyer, Bass & Mandolin, is up for three awards: Best Contemporary Instrumental Album; Best Instrumental Composition for the album track "Tarnation," written by Thile and Meyer; and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for engineers Richard King & Dave Sinko and mastering engineer Robert C. Ludwig. (Congratulations as well to Thile's Punch Brothers band mate Noam Pikelny, who has been nominated for Best Bluegrass Album for Noam Pikelny Plays Kenny Baker Plays Bill Monroe, released on Compass Records.)

Composer John Adams's album City Noir, comprising the title piece, inspired by LA "noir" films of the 1940s and '50s, and the debut recording of his 2012 Saxophone Concerto, has been nominated for two Grammy Awards: Best Engineered Album, Classical, for engineer Richard King and mastering engineer Wolfgang Schiefermair, and Best Orchestral Performance for the St. Louis Symphony and conductor David Roberston.

Brad Mehldau has been nominated for Best Improvised Jazz Solo for his performance on "Sleeping Giant," a track off Mehliana: Taming The Dragon, the debut album from his electric duo album with drummer Mark Guiliana. Jazzwise called the album "astonishing ... one of the best albums of 2014."

Finally, congratulations go to Toumani Diabaté and Sidiki Diabaté, whose father-son duo kora album, Toumani & Sidiki, released by World Circuit and distributed in North America by Nonesuch Records, has been nominated for Best World Music Album.

Nominees in one final category, Album of the Year, will be announced tonight during the one-hour special A Very Grammy Christmas, which airs on the CBS tonight at 9 PM ET/PT. The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on "Grammy Sunday," February 8, 2015, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS.     Composer and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire’s honey from a winter stone is out January 17, 2025, on Nonesuch Records. The album, which Ambrose calls a “self-portrait,” features improvisational vocalist Kokayi, pianist Sam Harris, Chiquitamagic on synthesizer, drummer Justin Brown, and the Mivos Quartet. Akinmusire says, “In many respects this entire work is inspired by and is an homage to the work of the composer Julius Eastman and his organic music concept." The opening track, “muffled screams,” is out now.

    Nonesuch releases a deluxe edition of Wilco’s 2004 Grammy Award–winning album A Ghost Is Born on February 7, 2025. The box set comprises either nine vinyl LPs and four CDs or nine CDs—including the original album, alternates, outtakes, and demos, charting the making of A Ghost Is Born—plus the complete 2004 concert recording from Boston’s Wang Center and the band’s “fundamentals” workshop sessions. It includes sixty-five previously unreleased music tracks as well as a forty-eight-page hardcover book with previously unpublished photos and a new liner note by Grammy-winning writer Bob Mehr. An alternate version of “Handshake Drugs,” recorded during the studio sessions at New York’s Sear Sound, twenty-one years ago this month, is out now. There will also be a new vinyl pressing of the original album in a two-disc package, and a two-CD expanded version of the original album with bonus track highlights from the full deluxe edition repertoire. The two-CD version will also be available on streaming services worldwide.
