The Low Anthem's scheduled Saturday performance at the Downtown Plymouth Waterfront Festival in Plymouth, Massasusetts, has been canceled due to the hurricane forecast for the area this weekend. Even with the unfortunate weather cancellation, there's a great feature article on the band in the nearby Wareham Courier you can find at wickedlocal.com/wareham. Sunday's free WXPN Artist to Watch concert concert in Anson B. Nixon Park in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, is still scheduled to take place on Sunday.

---

Laurie Anderson joins her husband, Lou Reed, for performances of their new collaboration, The Yellow Pony and Other Songs, at the Helsinki Festival's Huvila Festival Tent on Sunday and Monday.

---

The Carolina Chocolate Drops give a free concert at the Greensboro Historical Museum in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Saturday as part of Smithsonian Summer Saturday, a celebration of the state's musical heritage. Durham's Independent Weekly recently wrote of the Drops that they "both keep the string band tradition alive and celebrate its heritage."

---

Bill Frisell's two-week residency with Paul Motian and Joe Lovano at the New York's famed Village Vanguard got under way earlier this week and continues with multiple sets each night this weekend.

---

Youssou N'Dour is in Brazil this weekend for the Back2Black Festival, a three-day international event celebrating Africa through political discussions and cultural events, with events taking place in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. In Rio, he'll perform in a concert with Marisa Monte tonight and participate in a conference on culture and development tomorrow; on Sunday, he'll be in Brazilia for the festival's closing concert.

---

Allen Toussaint plays his semi-regular noon-time solo slot at Joe's Pub in New York City on Sunday.

---

Dawn Upshaw joins the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, led by David Zinman, at London's Royal Albert Hall Saturday night for a BBC Prom featuring an encore performance of the Mahler's Fourth Symphony, Schubert's Rosamunde Overture, and the UK premiere of She Was Here, a new piece by Osvaldo Golijov tied to four songs by Schubert.

---

Wilco closes out its European summer tour tonight with the second of two sold-out shows with Blitzen Trapper at Vicar Street in Dublin. After the show at London's Troxy earlier this week, the Guardian lauded their most recent Nonesuch release, Wilco (the album), for its "sense of rich detail."

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
