Laurie Anderson concludes her five-night residency at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater with performances of Homeland Friday and Saturday nights.

Philip Glass and the Philip Glass Ensemble are at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn, New York, tonight to perform Glass's score to the 1988 film Powaqqatsi at an outdoor screening of the film, all a part of the Celebrate Brooklyn! series of summer events. Variety called Powaqqatsi (the Hopi word for "life in transition") "a stunning tour-de-force." It is the second in a trilogy of film collaborations between Glass and director Godfrey Reggio that began with the seminal Koyaanisqatsi in 1982. The Ensemble will be joined for the occasion by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus.

Glass will go on to Vail, Colorado, on Sunday to perform at the opening night event of the Vail International Dance Festival. The mixed bill will include performances by Paul Taylor Dance Company and former Martha Graham principal dancer Fang-Yi Sheu, among others, and feature live music from Philip Glass and cellist Wendy Sutter.

---

Kronos Quartet visits Rancho Nicasio in Nicasio, California, to perform an eclectic program of works that includes a selection from Clint Mansell's score to The Fountain, Hamza El Din's Escalay (The Water Wheel), and Thelonious Monk's "'Round Midnight."

Punch Brothers play the 2008 RockyGrass Festival in Lyons, Colorado, on Saturday. Punch bassist Greg Garrison and banjo player Noam Pikelny both have roots in the Boulder band Leftover Salmon. KGNU, Boulder's independent, non-commercial radio station, will broadcast live from the festival grounds from 9 AM to 1 PM MST. Though it unfortunately won't cover the Punch set, which begins at 7:15 PM, you can catch the RockyGrass vibe online at kgnu.org.

Wilco kicks off their summer tour of the States in what could safely be considered one of the farther reaches of the US they've ever played: Fairbanks, Alaska. The group starts things off at The Blue Loon (theblueloon.com) tonight in their first-ever Alaska gig then heads south to Anchorage to play The Moose's Tooth (moosestooth.net) Saturday night. The Blue Loon's owner, Adam Wool, tells the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner: “I think this is a bigger band than Fairbanks realizes. These guys have a huge fan base, and there are a lot of people coming up from the Lower 48 for this."

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
