Punch Brothers launch an eight-date tour of Japan and Australia on Wednesday, beginning with a three-night, multi-set residency at Blue Note Tokyo. The band continues on to a full five-city run in Australia, including stops at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland Performing Arts Center in Brisbane, Adelaide International Guitar Festival, City Recital Hall in Sydney, and Melbourne Recital Centre. As reported last week, Punch Brothers have been nominated for a 2016 International Bluegrass Music Award for Instrumental Group of the Year. The nominees also include individual nods to band members Noam Pikelny ("Pickles"), up for Banjo Player of the Year (he won the award in 2014), and Chris Eldridge ("Critter"), up for Guitar Player of the Year.

"With enthusiasm and experimentation, Punch Brothers take bluegrass to its next evolutionary stage," says the Washington Post, "drawing equal inspiration from the brain and the heart. The word 'eclectic' only scratches the surface when describing the quintet's deep well of influences, which include roots rock, jazz and even classical."

To pick up a copy of Punch Brothers' latest album, The Phosphorescent Blues, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where you can also pick up a copy of the follow-up EP, The Wireless.
