The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2, on which Randy Newman takes a fresh look at both classic and more recent work in new solo recordings of his celebrated songs, is now available for pre-order in the Nonesuch Store with a limited-edition poster, a number of which will be signed by Newman. The poster features the original cover art from Newman's 1968 self-titled debut album, which marks the starting point of the repertoire on the new release, due out May 10.

Songbook Vol. 2, which was co-produced by Mitchell Froom and Lenny Waronker, includes songs spanning from 1968's Randy Newman (“Cowboys”) through Newman’s most recent, 2008’s Harps and Angels (“Laugh and Be Happy” and “Losing You”). In anticipation of the new record’s release, Newman is currently on tour across North America through April 22 in San Francisco.

Froom, who first worked with Newman on 1999’s Bad Love, produced Newman's Songbook Vol. 1, before co-producing Harps and Angels. “Mitchell is a great musician and is enormously helpful in every way imaginable,” Newman says. Waronker, who co-produced Harps and Angels with Froom, is Newman’s childhood friend and life-long champion; this is the eleventh of his albums on which the former head of Warner Bros. Records has served as producer, beginning with Randy Newman. “His instincts are better than mine, in some respects. He’s always been, for me, the most crucial person to my songwriting. I wanted to be the best that I could be. I always felt that Lenny wanted me to be better than that. I’m grateful to him.”

The twenty-seven disc box set Steve Reich Collected Works is due March 14, 2025, on Nonesuch. It features music recorded during the composer's forty years on the label—six decades of his compositions, including first recordings of his two latest works, Jacob’s Ladder and Traveler’s Prayer—plus two extensive booklets with new essays by Robert Hurwitz, Michael Tilson Thomas, Russell Hartenberger, Judith Sherman, and Nico Muhly, and a comprehensive listener’s guide by Timo Andres. Nonesuch made its first record with Steve Reich in 1985; he was signed exclusively to the label that year. Collected Works includes twenty-four discs of Nonesuch recordings and three from other labels.
