Randy Newman's Songbook Vol. 2 is out today on Nonesuch. On the new album, Newman takes a fresh look at both classic and more recent work in new solo takes on 16 of his celebrated songs, surveying 40 years of recordings. MusicOMH calls it "an invigorating celebration of the power of music, and a delicate declaration of the power of one man and his piano." Randy Newman's Songbook Vol. 2 is out today on Nonesuch. On the new album, Newman takes a fresh look at both classic and more recent work in new solo takes on 16 of his celebrated songs, surveying 40 years of recordings. Songbook Vol. 2, includes songs spanning from his 1968 self-titled debut album through his most recent, 2008’s Harps and Angels. MusicOMH calls it "an invigorating celebration of the power of music, and a delicate declaration of the power of one man and his piano."

Newman will be celebrating the UK release of the new album with a performance on Later ... with Jools Holland on BBC Two this week. Also on this week's episodes are Brian Wilson, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Arctic Monkeys, and more. Fans in the UK can tune in Friday night for all the music and conversation.
