Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record stores, is set to take place on Saturday, April 16, 2016, and included among the special releases on that day are the first-ever vinyl release of Clint Mansell's haunting score to Darren Aronofsky's 2000 film Requiem for a Dream, performed by Kronos Quartet, and the first worldwide vinyl release of Emmylou Harris's Grammy Award–winning, Daniel Lanois–produced album Wrecking Ball.

Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record stores, is set to take place on Saturday, April 16, 2016, and included among the special releases on that day are first vinyl releases of classic recordings from Clint Mansell, featuring Kronos Quartet, and from Emmylou Harris.

Nonesuch Records releases the first-ever vinyl edition of Clint Mansell's haunting score to Darren Aronofsky's 2000 film Requiem for a Dream, performed by Kronos Quartet. The album, pressed on two 180-gram LPs at Record Industry in the Netherlands, features the original soundtrack, remastered for the release, plus two previously unreleased bonus tracks, as well as a download of the complete album, and newly commissioned artwork by Simon C Page.

Emmylou Harris's groundbreaking, Grammy Award–winning album Wrecking Ball receives its first worldwide vinyl release this Record Store Day, complete with additional bonus material. The new edition, pressed on three 180-gram discs at Record Industry, includes the original Daniel Lanois–produced album, remastered, along with several bonus tracks first released on the 2014 three-disc Nonesuch reissue of the album, which Uncut magazine called "a masterpiece."

Record Store Day, now in its ninth year, celebrates the unique culture surrounding over 1,000 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.     The Black Keys' Ohio Players (Trophy Edition), an expanded version of their latest album, which received two Grammy nominations last week, is out now.     Donnacha Dennehy’s Land of Winter is out now. The piece, performed by the composer's longtime collaborators Alarm Will Sound and conductor Alan Pierson, explores the subtleties of Ireland’s seasons via twelve connected sections representing the months of the year. "It is the varying quality of light that truly demarcates the seasons," Dennehy says, "from the shorter days of grey or piercing light in the winter to the warmer but mercurial light of summer days that at solstice stretch almost to midnight. I like this play between light and time, and it is the major inspiration behind the piece." You can watch a video for “July" here.
