Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter launch a North American tour together with a performance in Charlotte, North Carolina, tonight. These longtime friends will share the stage as an intimate duo, performing material spanning their vast catalogs as well as some of their favorite songs. This first leg of the tour includes an additonal stop in North Carolina and shows through the South. Following Colvin's residency at the Dakota in Minneapolis and a tour of Australia, the duo tour picks up again in April, making stops across the Pacific Northwest, into Canada, and down to the US Northeast.

Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter launch a North American tour together with a performance at the Levin Center for the Arts' Knight Theater in Charlotte, North Carolina, tonight. These longtime friends will share the stage as an intimate duo, performing material spanning their vast catalogs as well as some of their favorite songs. This first, nine-city leg of the tour runs through March 3 and includes an additonal stop in North Carolina and shows through the South, in Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri. The tour picks up again in April, making stops across the Pacific Northwest, into Canada, and down to the US Northeast.

Between the two legs of the duo tour, Shawn Colvin will hold a three-night solo residency at the Dakota in Minneapolis and head to Australia for a tour beginning with Bluesfest in Byron Bay. Last year, Colvin released her eighth studio album, All Fall Down, on Nonesuch Records and her memoir, Diamond in the Rough, via HarperCollins. Both are available in the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders include a download of the complete album at checkout.

    American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
