St Germain's internationally acclaimed album from 2000, Tourist, was named one of the Best Albums of the Year by Rolling Stone following its release and helped originate a genre of French electronic music. In France, the album won three Victoires de la Musique awards—the French equivalent of Grammys—including Best Jazz Album, Best Electronic Album, and Best Live Performance. St Germain (aka Ludovic Navarre) remastered the album in 2012, and it is now available in the United States on two 180-gram vinyl LPs via Nonesuch Records. You can pick up a copy in the US at your local record shop and the Nonesuch Store.

Navarre recently returned to the studio to create his first album in 15 years, a self-titled album due out on Nonesuch Records in the US on October 9. The Independent says it's "well worth the wait." The record marries percussive grooves, which have always been central to St Germain’s sound, with a new element: traditional Malian music. Pre-order on iTunes and the Nonesuch Store to download the opening track, "Real Blues," now.

Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage.
