The photo at left of Sondheim, Zeta-Jones, and Lansbury hard at work, was taken by your trusty Nonesuch Journal keeper, but there are many photos from the event, shot by a professional, in a "Photo Call" at playbill.com.

For those of you outside of New York or unable to make the event, A Little Night Music is available here in the Nonesuch Store, with high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the album included with the CD purchase at no additional cost.

You'll find a short video preview of the show, featuring scenes from the production and interviews with Zeta-Jones and Lansbury, about what Lansbury calls "a musical that transports you to another world," at nonesuch.com/media.

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.

Composer and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire’s honey from a winter stone is out January 17, 2025, on Nonesuch Records. The album, which Ambrose calls a “self-portrait,” features improvisational vocalist Kokayi, pianist Sam Harris, Chiquitamagic on synthesizer, drummer Justin Brown, and the Mivos Quartet. Akinmusire says, “In many respects this entire work is inspired by and is an homage to the work of the composer Julius Eastman and his organic music concept." The opening track, “muffled screams,” is out now.
