The Black Keys continued the celebration of the release of their new album, El Camino, with a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman on CBS last night, following the previous night's set on The Colbert Report and Monday's album release show in New York, webcast live on MTV Hive and posted yesterday in the Nonesuch Journal. On last night's Late Show appearance, band mates Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney performed the El Camino track "Gold on the Ceiling." Watch the performance below.
The album is reviewed on today's episode of NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross. The show's rock critic, Ken Tucker, an editor-at-large for Entertainment Weekly, describes El Camino as a "reinvention" for the band, with their having "achieved a sound that's frequently brighter, more open and eager" on the new album. You can listen to the Fresh Air review at npr.org.
The Black Keys head West to close out release week with a set at KROQ's sold-out Almost Acoustic Christmas concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles Sunday night. Tickets for the March 2012 leg of the band's North American tour go on sale to the general public tomorrow morning. For all the dates and ticket links, go to nonesuch.com/on-tour.
To pick up a copy of El Camino, head to iTunes, Amazon, The Black Keys store, and the Nonesuch Store, where CDs and LPs are now 34% off and include high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the album at checkout.
