Wilco's 1995 debut, A.M., is now out again on vinyl. The band is set to begin a three-week tour this Thursday in the Main Lounge of the University of Iowa's Memorial Union. This afternoon at 3 PM CT, the band stops by the studios of radio station WXRT in their hometown of Chicago to talk about the tour and play guest DJ. The North American tour culminates with two shows in Chicago on October 18 and 19; Wilco heads to Europe in early November.

Wilco's 1995 debut album, A.M., is newly available on vinyl today. It's the second album from Wilco's early catalog to be made available on high-performance vinyl through Nonesuch, following last month's reissue of Summerteeth. Being There is due to follow in late October.

Meanwhile, Wilco is set to begin a three-week tour this Thursday in the Main Lounge of the University of Iowa's Memorial Union. Following Thursday's concert in Iowa, the tour will bring the band through much of the Midwest, including a set at Farm Aid 2009 in Maryland Heights, Missouri; up into Toronto for two dates at Massey Hall; and down to Tennessee and Texas. It all culminates with two shows in Chicago, at the University of Illinois Chicago Pavillion on October 18 and 19; the first date is sold out, but tickets are still available for the second.

In early November, Wilco heads to the UK to begin a two-week tour of Europe. That kicks off at Leeds Academy on November 3.

    Composer and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire’s honey from a winter stone is out January 17, 2025, on Nonesuch Records. The album, which Ambrose calls a “self-portrait,” features improvisational vocalist Kokayi, pianist Sam Harris, Chiquitamagic on synthesizer, drummer Justin Brown, and the Mivos Quartet. Akinmusire says, “In many respects this entire work is inspired by and is an homage to the work of the composer Julius Eastman and his organic music concept."     Nonesuch releases a deluxe edition of Wilco’s 2004 Grammy Award–winning album A Ghost Is Born on February 7, 2025. The box set comprises either nine vinyl LPs and four CDs or nine CDs—including the original album, alternates, outtakes, and demos, charting the making of A Ghost Is Born—plus the complete 2004 concert recording from Boston’s Wang Center and the band’s “fundamentals” workshop sessions. It includes sixty-five previously unreleased music tracks as well as a forty-eight-page hardcover book with previously unpublished photos and a new liner note by Grammy-winning writer Bob Mehr. An alternate version of “Handshake Drugs,” recorded during the studio sessions at New York’s Sear Sound, twenty-one years ago this month, is out now. There will also be a new vinyl pressing of the original album in a two-disc package, and a two-CD expanded version of the original album with bonus track highlights from the full deluxe edition repertoire. The two-CD version will also be available on streaming services worldwide.
