Congratulations to Lianne La Havas, whose 2020 self-titled album has been nominated for Best Album at the Ivor Novello Awards. The Ivors celebrate creative excellence by British and Irish songwriters and screen composers. The 66th awards presentation will take place on Tuesday, September 21, from 11:30am BST at Grosvenor House, London.

Randy Newman’s eight-LP box set Roll with the Punches: The Studio Albums (1979–2017), first released for Records Store Day's RSD Drop in July, is now available in limited supply in the Nonesuch Store as well. The set contains Randy Newman's latest seven studio albums—Born Again, Trouble in Paradise, Land of Dreams, Faust, Bad Love (on vinyl for the first time), Harps and Angels, and Dark Matter—on 140-gram vinyl, featuring original album jackets, lyric/credit sheets, and Faust demos. Lake Street Dive drummer Mike Calabrese is on The Mother Earth Podcast to talk about the climate crisis, mental health, and how his getting involved in the former helped improve the latter. You can hear their conversation here. "Vulnerability is kind of what got me into activism," says Calabrese. "It's almost impossible if you're truly depressed to be creative and write music and create good art. When you come through it, you can look at it and create art to help you heal. But that's the point where you go: am I just gonna wait around for the next time, or do I want to push past into becoming more involved and ultimately redefining how you want to live in the world."

Lake Street Dive's latest album, Obviously, released this past March on Nonesuch Records, is now available on translucent yellow vinyl in the Lake Street Dive Store and the Nonesuch Store, in addition to previously released standard black vinyl, CD, and digital formats. The band goes back on tour later this month.

Randy Newman is a special surprise guest caller on the latest episode of Office Hours Live with Tim Heidecker. "You truly are a hero to me," Heidecker says. "You're in the Top Three. C&C Music Factory is No. 1." You can hear their conversation here. Newman's set at Newport Folk Festival's "Folk On" last Saturday was among "The 10 Best Things We Saw" there, says Rolling Stone. "Randy Newman delivered a typically powerful 19-song solo piano set ... blending his signature mix of intentionally inscrutable ambiguity, caustic satire, and gorgeously wounded romanticism."

The Black Keys have released the official music video for "Stay All Night," one of several Junior Kimbrough tunes they perform on their new album, Delta Kream. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are joined by Kenny Brown on guitar and Eric Deaton on bass, both long-time members of the bands of blues legends including Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside. The video was directed by Ryan Nadzam and filmed in Mississippi at Jimmy Duck Holmes’ Blue Front Café, the oldest active juke joint in America. You can watch it here.

Sam Amidon has announced a headline tour of the Northeastern United States for this October featuring songs from his 2020 self-titled album and more. The two-week tour starts at Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on October 4, followed by shows in Burlington, Providence, Brattleboro, Northampton, Sellersville, DC, NYC, and Woodstock, culminating at One Longfellow Square in Portland, Maine, on October 16. Amidon was on BBC Radio 3's In Tune to perform last week.

In the winter of 2016, Conor Oberst found himself hibernating in his hometown of Omaha after living in New York City for more than a decade. He emerged with the unexpectedly raw, unadorned solo album Ruminations. The results are almost sketch-like in their sparseness: Oberst alone with his guitar, piano, and harmonica. The Ruminations (Expanded Edition), first released on vinyl for RSD Drops earlier this year, is now available on CD and digitally as well, and includes five bonus tracks, four of which are previously unreleased. The vinyl, pressed on two 140-gram LPs, includes an exclusive etching on side D.

The SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco has announced its 2021–22 concert season, and featured among the performers taking the Miner Auditorium stage are four Nonesuch artists: Joshua Redman, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Brad Mehldau, and Kronos Quartet. Tickets go on sale to members July 29 and to the general public August 5.

The Black Keys have announced their World Tour of America: three intimate shows in Athens, GA, St. Petersburg, FL, and Oxford, MS, this September, surrounding their performance at Pilgrimage Fest in Tennessee. The band will partner with the Save The Music Foundation to support elementary and middle school music programs in Mississippi. Fans can participate in a sweepstakes to win a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the band, with 100% of the proceeds going towards music education grants in seven schools across Mississippi.
