The 2018 Tanglewood season has been announced, and among the artists slated to perform at the Lenox, MA, venue this summer are Emmylou Harris and Ry Cooder on a double bill, Chris Thile with Live From Here, Jeremy Denk in a solo recital, and Audra McDonald with the Boston Pops.

Emmylou Harris will receive the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award, along with Hal Blaine, Neil Diamond, Louis Jordan, the Meters, Queen, and Tina Turner. A special award presentation ceremony and concert celebrating the honorees will be held in summer 2018. "Their outstanding accomplishments and passion for their craft have created a timeless legacy," Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy. Harris is a 13-time Grammy winner, including for her Nonesuch albums Red Dirt Girl and Old Yellow Moon.

Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell recently sat down with The Bluegrass Situation to perform the title track of their 2015 album, The Traveling Kind. The performance, for the site's Sitch Sessions, took place in a flower-filled 1954 Silver Streak trailer in East Nashville. You can watch it here.

Emmylou Harris will be the subject of a major new exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, opening October 5, 2018. "From my first album release in 1975," said Harris, a Hall of Fame member, "country music has embraced me with open arms. This exhibit at the Hall of Fame makes me realize once more how grateful and honored I am to be part of such a remarkable musical family."

The full line-up for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass has been announced, and, as is often the case, featured among the performers are a number of artists familiar to readers of the Nonesuch Journal, including Emmylou Harris, Randy Newman, Conor Oberst, and Dan Auerbach. The free, annual outdoor music festival returns for the seventeenth year to San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, and will take place October 6–8, 2017.

NPR Music has published a list titled Turning the Tables: The 150 Greatest Albums Made by Women, and among them are Emmylou Harris's Wrecking Ball, Laurie Anderson's Big Science, k.d. lang's Ingénue, and the Bulgarian State Radio & Television Female Vocal Choir's Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares. "This list, of the greatest albums made by women between 1964 and the present, is an intervention, a remedy, a correction of the historical record and hopefully the start of a new conversation," says NPR.

Emmylou Harris and the Nash Ramblers' Grammy Award–winning 1992 album, At the Ryman, recorded live over three nights at the historic Nashville venue, has been remastered and is now available on vinyl for the first time. It features the legendary singer and her acoustic backing band performing songs by Bill Monroe, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earle, Stephen Foster, Nanci Griffith, and others. The New York Times declared at the time: "This record is her finest moment."

A limited number of all three vinyl releases is now available in the Nonesuch Store.
