Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed will curate a month of programming at New York's The Stone this February. Their curatorial skills are well known to anyone who attended Sydney's Vivid LIVE festival or who read of its much beloved Music for Dogs concert. The Stone events include a special Valentine's Day duo by Anderson and Reed, a duo performance from Anderson and Fred Frith, and weekly Open Houses. Laurie Anderson's Homeland has made NPR's list of The Five Best Genre-Defying Albums of 2010. "Some of the most compelling music being made today comes from the increasingly blurry boundary between indie-rock and contemporary classical music," says WNYC's John Schaeffer. "And it's some of the most provocative and exciting work of the year." As dark as Homeland may be, "this is as accessible and rocking a record as Anderson has made in 25 years," Schaeffer insists. "Whether singing, speaking or doing that in-between thing she does, she is in great voice, and the production sounds awesome."

Congratulations to all the Nonesuch artists who were nominated for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, announced last night by The Recording Academy: The Black Keys, Laurie Anderson, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Punch Brothers, Stephen Sondheim, and World Circuit / Nonesuch Records artists Ali Farka Touré and Toumani Diabaté. Together, these artists' 2010 releases garnered an impressive 11 nominations, including a remarkable six nominations for The Black Keys' latest Nonesuch release, Brothers. Laurie Anderson performs her newest work, Delusion, at UCLA's Royce Hall tonight, as part of her week-long tour of California. The Los Angeles Times music critic Mark Swed says of the piece: "To reveal too much would be to spoil amazement. A supreme dramatist, Anderson makes nearly every sentence a dramatic surprise, every visual image a bolt of wonderment." Nevertheless, he can say that Delusion is a "powerful, moving, incredibly rich work."

Laurie Anderson heads to California for a weeklong tour that includes performances of Delusion in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and of Transitory Life at Yoshi's in San Francisco. "I'm trying to represent what I think of as mental drift," Anderson says of Delusion in the Los Angeles Times, "just the way your mind can move from thing to thing." The Santa Barbara Independent recognizes the piece as the latest in "her untouchable performance-art career."

Laurie Anderson gave the New York premiere of her latest stage work, Delusion, last night at BAM's Harvey Theater, the first of 12 performances there. The New York Times says Delusion shows "the degree to which Ms. Anderson’s scores bring color and shape to her productions." The Village Voice says of Anderson's voice: "As an instrument, it's just perfect: wise and bewildered, cutting and soothing, deadly serious and profoundly amusing."

Tonight marks the New York premiere of Laurie Anderson's Delusion at BAM's Harvey Theatre, launching BAM's Next Wave Festival. Time Out New York includes the concert among today's "must-see shows." The Wall Street Journal previews the festival with a look at Anderson's long history with BAM, having, over the years, "given audiences something profoundly rewarding: an ongoing emotional engagement that, like a good friendship, allows you to think about life from different perspectives."

Laurie Anderson and Brad Mehldau are featured on New York magazine's list of The 20 Most Anticipated Events of the Fall in classical music and dance. Anderson tops the list with the New York premiere of her piece Delusion, which opens BAM's Next Wave festival. Brad Mehldau comes to New York as holder of the Debs Composer's Chair at Carnegie Hall, for the New York premiere of Highway Rider.
