Mountain Man has released a live take on Michael Hurley's "Blue Mountain," from the trio's new live album, Look at Me Don’t Look at Me, out next Friday, August 7, on Nonesuch. The track and album were recorded at Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle in November 2018. You can hear "Blue Mountain" everywhere now, and watch a visualizer for it here.

Mountain Man has released Mountain Man Sings Kacey Musgraves, the latest in its series of cover singles, featuring its version of “Slow Burn” from Musgraves’ 2018 album, Golden Hour. "We are all huge fans of Kacey Musgraves,” says the band. "'Slow Burn' embodies the magic of the unfolding of life, the power of being present and patient and knowing that sometimes things just take time. Like following a thread—it requires attention and curiosity.”

Mountain Man has released Mountain Man Sings Wilco, the latest in its series of cover singles, featuring its version of “You and I” from 2009’s Wilco (the album). “We have been band members, collaborators, friends and business partners for over 10 years now,” says the band, “so a song like ‘You and I,’ a celebration of creating a relationship that is totally unique and filled with mystery, seemed very appropriate.” Mountain Man will present a three-night COSMIC PROM of songs from the trio's collective catalog in Durham, NC, January 17–19.

Mountain Man—the trio of Amelia Meath, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Molly Sarlé—follows up its 2018 Nonesuch debut album, Magic Ship, and its Sings John Denver EP with the second in its Sings cover series: the 1942 Irving Berlin holiday classic, "White Christmas," available now. "We wanted to record a song that could be played in people's homes throughout the holidays, like a gentle push of light," says the band. "We thought 'White Christmas' might do the trick!" Mountain Man will present a three-night COSMIC PROM of songs from the trio's collective catalog in Durham, NC, January 17–19.

Mountain Man, while on its US Magic Ship tour, performed a Birmingham concert captured for the public television program Subcarrier. "Three voices, a potent dose of musical chemistry, (and sometimes a guitar for good measure), coalesce in this extraordinary performance."

Dawnbreaker, the debut album from Daughter of Swords, aka Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, is out now on Nonesuch. Working with Sylvan Esso's Nick Sanborn, who co-produced the record with her, Sauser-Monnig shaped what began as quiet reflections into confident compositions, crackling with country swagger and a sparkling pop warmth, preemptive odes to the next phase of life. Guests include Mountain Man's Amelia Meath and Molly Sarlé, bandleader Phil Cook, and guitarist Ryan Gustafson.

Mountain Man's single featuring its take on two John Denver tunes, "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and "Around and Around," is now available on 7" vinyl, following its digital release earlier this year. "We love John Denver so much we gave Alex his haircut, and recorded a few of his legendary tunes too," says the trio—Amelia Meath, Molly Erin Sarlé, and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig. "Have a listen! They are so sooooothing, we promise."

Daughter of Swords, a.k.a. Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, releases her debut album, Dawnbreaker, on June 28, 2019, via Nonesuch Records (Bella Union in Europe). Co-produced with Sylvan Esso's Nick Sanborn, the album crackles with country swagger and a sparkling pop warmth. Pre-order in the Nonesuch Store to download the title track, a video for which can be seen here, and "Gem" now and get an exclusive, limited-edition print created and signed by Sauser-Monnig. NPR Music, which premiered the "Dawnbreaker" video, called the track "a soft swoon of a song that goes down like a cup of hot cocoa laced with CBD oil."

The three members of Mountain Man—Molly Erin Sarlé, Amelia Meath, and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, all Bennington College alums—will give their alma mater's commencement address on May 31; the event will be livestreamed. "Bennington equipped each of us with the tools necessary to translate vision into reality," says Sauser-Monnig. "When institutional guardrails are gone, the collaborative bonds you form with similarly interested people become the new touchstones of the creative work of living, and ideally support and inspire you in that iterative process. We're looking forward to being present in sending off another class of Bennington students with a conversation on the nature of collaboration."

The 2019 Big Ears Festival gets under way today, and as usual, featured among the performers are several Nonesuch artists: Rhiannon Giddens with Francesco Turrisi, Punch Brothers, Gabriel Kahane, and Mountain Man. Big Ears takes place at venues throughout downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, through Sunday.

Mountain Man's set at NPR Music's SXSW Tiny Desk Family Hour was among the "'Wow' Moments from SXSW 2019," said All Songs Considered. You can now watch the trio—Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, Molly Sarlé, Amelia Meath—perform three songs from the set: "AGT" from their album Magic Ship; Sarlé's "Human"; and "Grasses" by Daughter of Swords, Sauser-Monnig's new solo project. NPR's Stephen Thompson, in sharing this "softly joyful set," notes Mountain Man's "resplendent blend" and the "wonderful folk-pop songs" to come from Daughter of Swords.
