    Sam Amidon's 7" vinyl record Fatal Flower Garden EP (A Tribute to Harry Smith) is out now on Nonesuch. On the EP, Amidon performs four songs from Anthology of American Folk Music, Smith’s beloved and influential 1920s and ’30s folk music recordings. Amidon and frequent collaborator Shahzad Ismaily play all the instruments; Leo Abrahams engineered, produced, and mixed. Amidon concludes a UK tour in the week ahead, then tours the US Northeast.

    Vagabon's self-titled sophomore album, released digitally and on CD on Nonesuch Records last month, is now available on vinyl. "Each song on Vagabon feels like a small world," says the New Yorker. It's an "indie-pop masterpiece," says Clash, "simply captivating from start to finish." Vagabon tours North America as special guest of Angel Olsen through December.

    Mountain Man—the trio of Amelia Meath, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Molly Sarlé—follows up its 2018 Nonesuch debut album, Magic Ship, and its Sings John Denver EP with the second in its Sings cover series: the 1942 Irving Berlin holiday classic, "White Christmas," available now. "We wanted to record a song that could be played in people's homes throughout the holidays, like a gentle push of light," says the band. "We thought 'White Christmas' might do the trick!" Mountain Man will present a three-night COSMIC PROM of songs from the trio's collective catalog in Durham, NC, January 17–19.

    Mandy Patinkin's Children and Art, his first new album since 2002, is out now. The songs were recorded in New York with pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman); several have been previewed over the last two years as part of the digital Diary series. Composers on the record include Randy Newman, Laurie Anderson, Lyle Lovett, Taylor Mac, Stephen Sondheim, Tom Waits, Rufus Wainwright, Teitur, and Patinkin himself. Mandy Patinkin will tour North America, accompanied by pianist Adam Ben-David, from October 30 through February 2020.

    The cast album for the critically acclaimed Broadway production of David Byrne’s American Utopia is now available digitally; the two-CD version will be released on November 22 and is available to pre-order; a vinyl edition is due this winter. The show includes songs from his 2018 album, American Utopia, along with music from Talking Heads and Byrne’s solo career. "Dazzling, rapturous and jubilant," exclaims the New York Times of the show. "Astonishing," raves Hollywood Reporter. "A knockout celebration of music, dance and song. Pure bliss." Byrne performs on Jimmy Kimmel Live! from Brooklyn tonight and on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on November 19.

    The first worldwide vinyl release of Sam Phillips's critically acclaimed 2001 Nonesuch debut album, Fan Dance, is due on Valentine's Day 2020, as the latest fan-selected title on Run Out Groove. Remastered and pressed on 180-gram vinyl, the LP comes in an old-school tip-on style jacket with booklet, limited and individually numbered. It is available to pre-order via Run Out Groove and the Nonesuch Store until November 7, and then pressed and numbered to a limited quantity based on total orders. The Boston Globe calls it "a stunning work of intimacy and emotional range."

    ¡Spangled!—a collaboration between Guatemalan-born singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno and American musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer Van Dyke Parks—is out now. The ten-song set spans more than a century, including a bolero from Panama, a bossa nova from Brazil, a song by Moreno, Trinidadian songwriter David Rudder's "The Immigrants," and an elegiac ballad from the Southwest US: Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, and Jim Dickinson’s “Across the Borderline,” performed with Cooder and Jackson Browne.

    Rachael & Vilray—the debut album by Lake Street Dive singer-songwriter Rachael Price and composer, singer, and guitarist Vilray—is out now. The album features ten original songs by Vilray and two covers. "The voices of acoustic duo Rachael & Vilray are magical enough on their own," says Chronogram, "but when they blend in song the results are utterly sublime." Rachael & Vilray, who released a new lyric video of "Do Friends Fall in Love?" today, perform on Live From Here on October 26 and tour the US in November and December.

    Joshua Redman and Brooklyn Rider's Sun on Sand is out now on Nonesuch. The album comprises eight works from a suite by composer Patrick Zimmerli. Each piece in the suite, which premiered at London’s Wigmore Hall in 2014, represents a different expression of light. Bassist Scott Colley and drummer Satoshi Takeishi perform as well.

    Acclaimed Portuguese fado singer Carminho's newest album, Maria, is out in the US today on Nonesuch. The album, her first to be released in the US, was previously released in Europe, where London's Evening Standard called her voice "strong and sculptural," and London Jazz News called Maria "a beautifully realized, remarkably varied yet uniformly gorgeous album." Carminho returns to North America to tour this fall, with dates in New York, Boston, San Francisco, and more.
