Nonesuch releases 2x5 Remixed, a new, three-track digital EP, available at iTunes, featuring the winning entries in the 2010 contest to remix the third movement from Steve Reich's 2x5, as chosen by the composer. As Reich told the BBC World Service, there is a rich history of artists reinterpreting others' work, explaining: “Remixing is a modern take on variations." Bang on a Can performs 2x5 in an all-Reich concert at Carnegie Hall this Saturday.

The Low Anthem and Iron and Wine will release their Daytrotter Sessions as a limited-edition, split 12" vinyl on May 17. The LP, limited to 1,000 copies, is being sold exclusively through "mom and pop" record stores, with a few copies available through the Daytrotter website and the bands' websites. This will be the first-ever vinyl release to feature a full Daytrotter Session. The two bands are on tour together now. The Low Anthem's side of the LP features a live performance of six songs from their album Smart Flesh, which Daytrotter proclaimed is "without question a contender for album of the year."

k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang's new album, Sing it Loud, is out today. To celebrate, lang and the band performed the album opener "I Confess" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. The Los Angeles Times says: "The big, beautiful voice of k.d. lang swoops, purrs and soars through the 10 songs on Sing it Loud.” With her new band, lang "has found her guitar groove again." The Ottawa Citizen calls the album "a torch-and-twangtinged stunner."

James Farm, the self-titled debut album from the collaborative band featuring saxophonist Joshua Redman, pianist Aaron Parks, bassist Matt Penman, and drummer Eric Harland, is due out on Nonesuch on April 26. NPR is streaming the album in full as an NPR First Listen till then. "It's a bit like four of the best in the business just called a 'session' one day, but instead of standards, they each brought in their own music," says NPR. "And this band's labor has clearly proven fruitful."

The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2, on which Newman takes a fresh look at both classic and more recent work in new solo recordings of his celebrated songs, is now available for pre-order in the Nonesuch Store with a limited-edition poster, a number of which will be signed by Newman. The poster features the original cover art from Newman's 1968 self-titled debut album, which marks the starting point of the new album's repertoire.

Nonesuch releases John Adams’s Son of Chamber Symphony / String Quartet on May 31, 2011. Son of Chamber Symphony (2007) is performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), led by the composer, and Adams’s String Quartet (2008) is performed by the St. Lawrence String Quartet, the ensemble for which the piece was written. This is the first recording of both works. The album is now available for pre-order in the Nonesuch Store.

k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang's new album, Sing it Loud, hits stores Friday morning in Australia, where lang and the band will appear on Sunrise, Today, and One Plus One and the album is now streaming on the Sydney Morning Herald website. k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang are heading Down Under this week to celebrate this Friday's Australian release of their new album, Sing it Loud, due out in North America on April 12. Fans in Australia can catch lang and the band on TV starting release day and throughout April. They'll be able to watch them live in concert later this year on k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang's just-announced tour of Australia this November. Nonesuch Records releases Tell My Sister, a special three-disc set comprising remastered versions of Kate and Anna McGarrigle’s beloved 1976 self-titled debut; its equally praised 1977 follow-up, Dancer with Bruised Knees; and a collection of previously unreleased songs, including solo and duo demos, on May 3, 2011. Joe Boyd, who produced the McGarrigles’ first two albums, assembled the material for the third disc in addition to serving as producer for the whole set. Tell My Sister is now available for pre-order in the Nonesuch Store, along with an exclusive, limited-edition commemorative poster.

Jessica Lea Mayfield left quite an impression at the 2011 SXSW Music Conference last week in performances that SPIN says "proved she has what it takes to be your favorite new artist." Now you can take home some of the SXSW magic with the new digital album iTunes Live: SXSW, recorded at Mayfield's SXSW showcase at St. David's Historic Sanctuary, including several songs from Nonesuch debut album, Tell Me. 

Nonesuch releases its first recording of music by Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy, Grá agus Bás, on May 3. The album includes the title piece, which translates as Love and Death, as well as the composer’s song cycle That the Night Come. The Dublin–based Crash Ensemble—which Dennehy co-founded—performs both works, conducted by Alan Pierson. Irish singer Iarla O’Lionáird is the soloist for Grá agus Bás; Dawn Upshaw is featured on That the Night Come. The album is currently available to pre-order here.
