Among the 80th birthday celebrations for Steve Reich will be a week of concerts by the San Francisco Symphony (SFS) and Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) highlighting the composer's works at Davies Symphony Hall, September 7–11, 2016, starting with the Orchestra's Opening Night Gala and culminating in an all-Reich concert featuring Kronos Quartet. The pieces to be performed during the week are Three Movements, Double Sextet, Six Marimbas, Electric Counterpoint, and WTC 9/11.

McDonald made history and became Broadway's most decorated performer when she won her sixth Tony Award for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill in 2014. The Emmy Awards will air live on ABC on Sunday, September 18.

Oberst will also make stops in New York at Carnegie Hall on November 23 and in Los Angeles at The Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian Church on December 10.

The tour continues with a stop at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan; two in upstate New York, at Smith Opera House in Geneva and Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival; and two concerts in California, at the Fox Theater in Oakland and the Theatre at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.

The tour continues through the middle of August, with shows in Park City, Denver, Ravinia, Cincinnati, and upstate New York, culminating with two shows in Virginia, at the Sprint Pavilion in Charlottesville and at Wolf Trap outside DC. Harris also leads three of her own shows between dates with Lovett during that time, stopping in Wisconsin, Montana, and Idaho.

The commission, presented by Metal, will feature archival film stock of train travel during WWII gathered from archives in continental Europe and the US. Reich, Sound Intermedia, and the London Contemporary Orchestra will collaborate to perform this presentation in an open-air concert at Liverpool's Edge Hill Station—the departure point for the first-ever intercity passenger train travel, in 1830—on September 29, 2016.
