Pianist/composer Tigran Hamasyan's five-song EP For Gyumri, his third recording on Nonesuch Records, is now available. "I believe that our childhood experience shapes who we become when we grow into adulthood," says Hamasyan. "For Gyumri is an ode to my birthplace, the town that nourished my childhood world with great experiences and made me who I am." He begins a tour in Vancouver tonight, followed by stops in Portland, Chicago, and NYC in the coming weeks.

The 2018 Tanglewood season has been announced, and among the artists slated to perform at the Lenox, MA, venue this summer are Emmylou Harris and Ry Cooder on a double bill, Chris Thile with Live From Here, Jeremy Denk in a solo recital, and Audra McDonald with the Boston Pops.

Congrats to Mandy Patinkin, who received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles yesterday. The ceremony was held in front of the Pantages Theater at 6243 Hollywood Boulevard, where Patinkin's star became the 2,629th on the Walk of Fame. Rupert Friend, Patinkin's Homeland co-star, and Patti LuPone, Patinkin's longtime friend and frequent touring partner, spoke at the event. Jonny Greenwood's Academy Award–nominated score to Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread is now available on CD, following its digital release earlier this year and ahead of the double-LP vinyl release on April 20. "This is startlingly expansive music," says the Guardian's Bim Adewunmi, "liable to make the listener believe they can leap buildings in a single bound, and when the strings sweep in, in the middle of 'House of Woodcock,' it’s all I can do to remain tethered to the Earth." IndieWire calls it "a masterpiece," the year's best score and one of the century's best as well.

Robert Plant, who begins a sold-out US tour with his band the Sensational Space Shifters tonight, has released a video of their performance of "Carry Fire," the title song to his new album, at the O2 Apollo in Manchester, England, on their sold-out UK tour last November. You can watch it here.

Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet's first collaboration, Landfall, due February 16, is streaming in full till then as an NPR First Listen. In the piece, inspired by Anderson's experience of Hurricane Sandy, "she doesn't revisit the storm so much as ruminate—sometimes with dry wit—on the idea of how we handle loss," says NPR's Tom Huizenga. "With a dream-like blend of electronics, acoustic instruments, high-tech software and voice overs, she searches for meaning in the mystery of it all."

"I immediately got completely kidnapped by the musical world of John Adams," filmmaker Luca Guadagnino tells Pitchfork. Nonesuch recordings of Adams's music have been featured memorably in the three films of Guadagnino's "Desire Trilogy": Call Me By Your Name, A Bigger Splash, and I Am Love, which is scored entirely with Adams's music. All of that can now be heard here via new Nonesuch playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.

Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet have shared a fourth track from their forthcoming album, Landfall: "CNN Predicts a Monster Storm." The video for the song premiered via The Quietus, which spoke with Anderson and Kronos's David Harrington about this "first recording collaboration between two of contemporary music’s most renowned figures." The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced its 2018–19 concert season—its centennial season—and among the artists joining the orchestra to perform this season at Walt Disney Concert Hall are John Adams and Audra McDonald. The LA Phil will also give the world premiere of new works by Adams, Steve Reich, and Louis Andriessen.
