k.d. lang has wowed crowds across the globe with her interpretation of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" for the past several years. Tonight, she performed the song before the world's greatest athletes and billions of television viewers around the world at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Here Lies Love, the forthcoming David Byrne / Fatboy Slim collaboration, tells the tale of former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos through a cadre of vocalists from a myriad musical worlds, including Filipino jazz singer Charmaine Clamor. "I was impressed with the catchy melodies," she tells the Philippine Daily Inquirer in an interview about the project, "and more so with the historical accuracy of the lyrics." Byrne is participating in today's "Invention" session of the TED Conference.

The Low Anthem closes out its European tour with a bang tonight, playing its biggest headline show ever at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. There's more to come, as the band returns to the States for tours with The Avett Brothers and others, plus a stop at SXSW. The group's new radio show on WOXY, The Trala-lala Radio Hour, is now two episodes in, featuring music by the likes of Dylan, Cohen, Guthrie, Waits, Randy Newman, and Wilco.

The Magnetic Fields' tour settles in for two nights in Boston. In the Toronto Star, Stephin Merritt ("one of indie-rock's most beloved songwriters") gives fans an idea of what to expect on tour: "If we played it last time we toured, we're not playing it this time." With The A.V. Club, he shares some secrets to writing a good love song, advising: "Keep it vague." And Strange Powers, a new documentary about Merritt and the band, will be given a sneak preview at San Francisco's Noise Pop Festival and premiere at South by Southwest.

The wait is over. The official line-up for the 2010 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, has been announced. The festival will be held from Thursday, June 10, through Sunday, June 13, and among this year's artists are three Nonesuch groups: The Black Keys, Punch Brothers, and Carolina Chocolate Drops. All three groups will be on tour in the coming months.

Christina Courtin, having just completed a short tour with Josh Rouse, is now set to hit the road again for two weeks with Mike Doughty, the former front man of the band Soul Coughing. Courtin will join Doughty starting a week from Saturday, at Poor David's Pub in Dallas, Texas, on February 20, then head through the Southwest and into California, rounding things out at Slim's in San Francisco on March 6.

With one more day to go before the release of Recollection, the first-ever k.d. lang retrospective, the singer-songwriter is featured on NPR Music. Citing Tony Bennett, who compares her to Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf, and Hank Williams, NPR agrees: "It's prestigious company that k.d. lang deserves to keep." k.d. spoke with BBC Radio 4's Today and with the New Zealand Herald, which states: "The words 'true professional' should only be applied to a handful of people in the music business. And k.d. lang is one of them."

Mardi Gras has come early in New Orleans as the city celebrates the Saints Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts. To mark the team's first-ever Super Bowl win and the final score of 31-17, the Nonesuch Store is taking 31% off the list price of The Bright Mississippi, New Orleans native Allen Toussaint's ode to the city's rich jazz heritage, on CD and vinyl.

Among its many stand-out tracks is k.d.'s now-classic take on "Hallelujah." She discusses the song with the Australian Associated Press, which says hers "is regularly held up as one of the greatest versions of Leonard Cohen's much-covered classic."

Kate McGarrigle passed away last week after fighting a rare form of cancer, clear cell sarcoma. Along with her sister Anna, Kate was responsible for a body of work over 30 plus years that was as striking for the quality of their songwriting as it was for the wholly unique and personal sound of their music and, especially, their intertwining vocals. The Barbican's John Adams Focus series begins with a New York Philharmonic performance of The Wound-Dresser on Thursday. In the coming months, Adams leads the LSO in the UK premiere of Doctor Atomic Symphony and City Noir; the St. Lawrence String Quartet performs his String Quartet; and a new production of I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky opens. The Toronto Symphony's 2010-11 season also includes an Adams-focused festival with Adams leading the Canadian premiere of City Noir. His Nixon in China will be performed in Vancouver and Los Angeles this March.

Tune in to the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight for a performance from Wilco. The band is in L.A. for Grammy Week, which culminates in Sunday's awards ceremony; Wilco (the album) is up for Best Americana Album of the Year. Other Nonesuch nominees include Allen Toussaint, Shawn Colvin, Amadou & Mariam, and Oumou Sangare. Wilco will join k.d. lang, Emmylou Harris, T Bone Burnett, and others Friday night in honoring Neil Young as MusiCares Person of the Year.
