After a sold-out, year-long critically acclaimed international tour, David Byrne’s American Utopia will play a strictly limited engagement on Broadway at the intimate Hudson Theatre, October 4, 2019, through January 18, 2020, with the official opening set for October 20. Pre-Broadway, it will play eighteen performances at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre, September 11–28, 2019. Tickets are on sale now.

The video is directed by Bryan Schlam and finds the band struggling to reconnect after five years apart. Pat Carney says, "It was great making this video with Bryan, partially because it was filmed at the very type of place it is making fun of," and Dan Auerbach adds, "The video was fun, but we still haven't spoken." She spoke with host Talia Schlanger about her life and music and performed three songs from her Dan Auerbach-produced debut album, Walk Through Fire from Auerbach's Easy Eye Studio. The songs on the album "ring out with the triumphant air of someone who has withstood the flames and the heat en route to achieving their dreams," says Schlanger. Yola has been nominated as Emerging Act of the Year, and her Dan Auerbach-produced debut album, Walk Through Fire, has been nominated for Album of the Year. Rhiannon Giddens has been nominated for Artist of the Year, and her group Our Native Daughters has been nominated for Duo/Group of the Year. Chris "Critter" Eldridge has been nominated as Instrumentalist of the Year. Winners will be announced during the Americana Honors & Awards at the Ryman Auditorium in September.

Rhiannon Giddens will take part in NPR Music’s multi-artist Turning the Tables Live: The Motherlode on Wednesday, July 31, and Yola will help close out the season in The Roots of American Music Weekend: Americanafest NYC, performing on Saturday, August 10, ahead of Patty Griffin.

The seven-show run starts in Kansas City on September 4, followed by sold-out shows in St. Louis, Cleveland, Vienna (Virginia), and Toronto, culminating in two nights in New Orleans, September 27 and 28. The dates follow Yola's Newport Folk Festival set and US tour with Lake Street Dive this summer and come ahead of the Austin City Limits festival and shows with Andrew Bird in October.
