Nonesuch Records releases saxophonist Joshua Redman’s Walking Shadows on May 7, 2013. The album, comprising 12 ballads, is Redman’s first recording to include an orchestral ensemble, which plays on many of the tracks. It was produced by Redman’s friend and frequent collaborator Brad Mehldau. The record's core ensemble is a quartet featuring Mehldau, Larry Grenadier, and Brian Blade. Walking Shadows includes original tunes from both Redman and Mehldau along with works by a wide range of composers like John Mayer and Pino Palladino, Kern and Hammerstein, and Lennon and McCartney. Walking Shadows is now available to pre-order in the Nonesuch Store with an instant download of the Redman-penned track “Final Hour."

The album is streaming in full all this week as an NPR First Listen; it is still available to pre-order in the Nonesuch Store with a limited-edition, autographed print. Banhart, who is featured in a new Pitchfork interview, will tour Europe this summer, including three UK dates: in Brighton, Manchester, and London. He will perform at the Open'er Festival in Poland and at Le Trianon in Paris. Additional dates are still to be announced in Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Holland.
Journal Topics: Album ReleaseOn TourArtist NewsTuesday,March 5,2013Radio Rewrite, Steve Reich’s new ensemble work, which draws inspiration from songs by Radiohead, will be premiered at the Royal Festival Hall in London tonight, travelling with the London Sinfonietta to Birmingham, Brighton, and Glasgow this week. The all-Reich program opens with the composer in Clapping Music, and also includes Electric Counterpoint, 2x5, and Double Sextet. Tonight's concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3's Live in Concert. Alarm Will Sound gives the first US performances of Radio Rewrite at Stanford Live and Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis later this month.

Old Yellow Moon is out today in the UK, where it has received critical acclaim, earning four stars nearly across the board, from Mojo to the Evening Standard; the duo were featured on BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris and BBC Radio Scotland's Another Country.

Björk’s work will premiere three minutes before midnight tonight, March 1, and play throughout the month as part of the Midnight Moment, a presentation of the Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC) and Times Square Arts. "I am very excited about my 'Mutual Core' video being shown at Times Square," says Björk. "Seems like them united screens there are going to have a go at matching the energy of the volcanoes in the video! Good luck Manhattan!"

Yang will succeed Jeffrey Zeigler, who has performed with the quartet for the past eight seasons and will step down from the group this May to work on solo projects and new collaborations and to begin teaching at Mannes College The New School For Music.

They perform the piece at the Adelaide Festival this Saturday. The Kronos tour includes additional performances at the Perth and Adelaide festivals and a show in Melbourne, as well as a four-city New Zealand tour. Laurie Anderson performs her piece Dirtday! at the Adelaide Festival before heading to Paris, where she will be the focus of a Domaine Privé at Cité de la Musique next week.
Journal Topics: On TourArtist NewsTuesday,February 26,2013Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell's album Old Yellow Moon, their first official collaboration since Crowell joined Harris' Hot Band in 1975, is out now (in Europe March 4). Harris and Crowell marked the occasion with a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman last night. The album earns four stars from Mojo and Q, which calls it "some of the best work of their careers." Country Music People gives this "magnificent album" a perfect five stars. Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell launch a tour together in March.

Produced by Amidon with his childhood friend and longtime collaborator Thomas Bartlett (a.k.a. Doveman) and legendary English engineer Jerry Boys (Buena Vista Social Club, Vashti Bunyan, R.E.M.) and recorded in London, the record features a band made up of Bartlett and multi-instrumentalists Shahzad Ismaily and Chris Vatalaro. Jazz trumpeter Kenny Wheeler also makes a cameo. Amidon himself not only sings but also plays banjo, fiddle, acoustic guitar, and piano on the album. Listen to the album track "My Old Friend" here.
