Laurie Anderson's 2015 film Heart of a Dog will receive its Criterion Collection release on Blu-Ray and DVD on December 6, 2016. Features on the special-edition release include a high-definition digital master, a new conversation between Anderson and coproducer Jake Perlin, and footage of her 2016 Concert for Dogs, plus an essay by film critic Glenn Kenny. The soundtrack, which contains the full audio recording of the film, including all music and spoken text, is out on Nonesuch.

She will join the jury for the Venezia 73 competition presided over by director Sam Mendes. Also on the jury are actresses Gemma Arterton, Nina Hoss, Chiara Mastroianni, and Zhao Wei; directors Joshua Oppenheimer and Lorenzo Vigas; and writer Giancarlo De Cataldo. Anderson's film Heart of a Dog screened in competition in Venice in 2015; the film will be shown in Italian cinemas in September.

On May 11, she takes part in two screenings in London: one hosted by BBC Radio 6 Music's Lauren Laverne, another open to dogs (and their owners). All three feature Q&As with Anderson. Heart of a Dog continues to open in cinemas in the UK and Ireland through the spring and summer. Anderson discusses the film at a sold-out screening at the Tate Modern on Friday, April 22.

"It’s an astonishingly strong group of films and performances this year and we look forward to celebrating them all at the Spirit Awards." It also opens in additional theaters in New York and New Jersey and will been shown at the Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville on Friday. The Los Angeles Times calls it "transfixing," saying it's Anderson's spirit, "beautifully inquisitive, witty, open, lyrical and generous—that makes Heart of a Dog so dreamily memorable." The film will open in more theaters across the country in the coming weeks. The soundtrack is available everywhere now on Nonesuch Records.

Journal Topics: Artist NewsFilmWednesday,October 28,2015Paul Thomas Anderson will give his new documentary Junun its Los Angeles premiere on Sunday, November 15, at The Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles, where he had given a pre-release screening of his film Inherent Vice. This past spring, Anderson joined Jonny Greenwood, Shye Ben Tzur, and a group of Indian musicians as they recorded the album Junun in a makeshift studio at Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. The film chronicles the making of that album. The film is currently streaming on MUBI. The album, due November 20 on Nonesuch, is now available to pre-order.
