Last night, at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, director Tim Burton unveiled scenes from his upcoming film adaptation of Sweeney Todd, starring Johnny Depp, and as the cheering audience could attest, this Sweeney can sing. As part of the Film Society at Lincoln Center's special event, "An Evening with Tim Burton: Cinema's Demon Barber," the filmmaker was interviewed by the Society's program director, Richard Peña, who had collected a number of unforgettable scenes from some of Burton's most iconic films.

The director was in attendance and spoke afterwards about the film. Martens hopes that the "fascinating," "startling" score by Jonny Greenwood gets through to Oscar voters "for the original score nomination it deserves."

Wednesday,October 24,2007On November 14 in New York City, the Film Society of Lincoln Center will present An Evening with Tim Burton, featuring a conversation with the director and a sneak peek at clips from his film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. The special event will also include clips from a number of films from throughout Burton's illustrious 35-year career, including some from his previous five collaborations with Depp. But the evening's highlight will surely be the "first look" at scenes from Sweeney, which doesn't hit theaters until December.

Mansell received both the award for the year's Best Original Soundtrack and the Public Choice Award.
