Robert Plant and his band the Sensational Space Shifters were on the Later… With Jools Holland live show on BBC Two. They performed two songs from the new album Carry Fire, out this Friday: "Bones of Saints" and "New World…" You can watch them perform both here, and tune in to BBC Two again this Friday for the full, one-hour episode of Later for more. The show calls it "a set of songs that combines some haunting tribal rhythms with Plant's customary inventive flair and sense of urgency." Plant and the band performed from Carry Fire on BBC Radio 6 Music live last Friday; he spoke with Lauren Laverne about the new album and more.

Fleet Foxes' performance on Live from the Artists Den, taped live at The Knockdown Center in Queens, NY, will premiere on PBS stations across the US starting this weekend, airing in LA, Chicago, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Spokane, and more. The roll-out of the episode, with songs from the band's new album, Crack-Up, and more, continues in the coming weeks with more than three dozen air dates scheduled already, including in Atlanta, San Francisco, NYC, and Nashville.

Rostam was on Conan on TBS last night, performing "Gwan," from his debut album, Half-Light. You can watch it here. He takes part in a live session on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic today. Rostam will perform at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in NYC on Wednesday and at The Growlers Six festival in LA on October 28 and will tour Europe in November.

Offa Rex (Olivia Chaney and The Decemberists) was featured on PBS NewsHour. Chaney and The Decemberists' Colin Meloy discuss the origins of the songs on the group's debut album, The Queen of Hearts, and the different perspectives the artists brought to them. "I think that was the beauty of the project," says Chaney; "we came from different cultures and different relationships to the history of the music." You can watch the interview and an excerpt from Offa Rex's performance of "The Old Churchyard" at the Newport Folk Festival here.

Randy Newman was the musical guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS last night. He performed the timely track "Putin" from his forthcoming album, Dark Matter, which is out this coming Friday on CD and digitally, with vinyl due August 18. You can watch the performance here.

Conor Oberst was a guest on the Charlie Rose show on PBS/Bloomberg News last week. He spoke with Rose about and performed songs from his new albums, Salutations and Ruminations. The episode opens with a performance of a "Till St. Dymphna Kicks Us Out" and closes with "Mamah Borthwick (A Sketch)." You can watch the performances and interview here. Emmylou Harris was the musical guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS to mark the first-ever vinyl edition of her 1992 album, At the Ryman. She performed Steve Earle's "Pilgrim." You can watch it here.

Fleet Foxes marked the release of their long-awaited and highly lauded third album, Crack-Up, with a performance of the album track "Third of May / Ōdaigahara" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday night. The following day, the band was on CBS This Morning: Saturday, taking part in the show's Saturday Sessions, and performing three songs from the album at Electric Lady Studios in New York City: "Third of May / Ōdaigahara," "Fool's Errand," and "If You Need To, Keep Time on Me." Rhiannon Giddens was a guest on the Tavis Smiley show on PBS. She spoke with Smiley about the inspiration behind her new album, Freedom Highway, and gives a solo performance of "Julie," one of nine original songs she wrote or co-wrote for the album. "What I wanted was a way to tell those stories, but I’m a musician and they wanted to become songs," Giddens tells Smiley. "I didn't have a choice really." Watch the segment here.

Mandy Patinkin, after having completed filming the latest season of the Showtime series Homeland, traveled to Europe with his wife Kathryn to continue his work with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), visiting refugee camps and helping to shed light on the humanitarian crisis. He was also reunited with a Syrian family he had first met in a refugee camp in their new home in Germany.
