David Byrne returned to Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about Here Lies Love, his musical with Fatboy Slim about the rise and fall of the Philippines’ notorious Imelda Marcos and the People Power Revolution, now on Broadway with a historic all-Filipino cast. They also discuss the famed 1984 Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense, directed by Jonathan Demme, back in theaters now, and Fred Armisen’s David Byrne impression. The video, directed by Daniel Madoff, features 22 wrongfully convicted people, clients of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, who collectively spent more than 500 years in prison for crimes they did not commit. It aims to raise awareness for the stories and voices of those who have experienced the injustices of the criminal legal system. You can watch it here. Giddens' song was inspired by the tragic story of Kalief Browder, a young man wrongfully incarcerated at NYC's Rikers Island for three years, where he was subjected to nearly two years of solitary confinement.

"This album has been created in love and camaraderie, crossing boundaries musically," she says in the video. "We've got a lot of different types of music going on, a lot of different musicians from different worlds coming together. Part of my mission this whole time is to talk about how these barriers are not barriers ... When people are all in it for the same reason—i.e. we're gonna make an amazing piece of art, we're gonna make this great piece of music, and we're gonna do it in a way that enriches us and the listener, so we have gained by making it, and the listener has gained by listening to it—the barriers don't matter."
