Rhiannon Giddens has released a new song, "Black Is the Color," streaming now, and available as an instant download with pre-orders of her upcoming T Bone Burnett–produced debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. You can listen to the song, as well as other instant download tracks “Don’t Let It Trouble Your Mind” and “Shake Sugaree,” here. Giddens appears and sings in a new Apple commercial, featuring her rendition of the Gershwin classic “Love Is Here to Stay.” The video finds a young girl discovering an old recording of her grandmother at a younger age (Giddens) singing, and then watches as the girl uses her iPad to reimagine the song in a modern context. Jonny Greenwood joined London Contemporary Orchestra members for a performance at Albert Hall in Manchester earlier this year featuring his film scores to Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood and The Master; his own take on Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint; works by Messiaen, Michael Gordon, and more. Sam Amidon recently stopped by NPR with Bill Frisell and Shahzad Ismaily to give a Tiny Desk Concert. They perform two songs from Amidon's latest album, Lily-O, on which both perform and which Tiny Desk Concert host Bob Boilen calls "gorgeous"—"Blue Mountains" and "Pat Do This, Pat Do That"—as well as the song "Short Life" from his 2013 Nonesuch Records debut album, Bright Sunny South. Watch the Tiny Desk Concert here. Amidon opens for Wilco at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago this Saturday, then leads his own shows in Chicago, Ann Arbor, and Toronto.

Many Patinkin was featured on CBS's 60 Minutes last night, joining correspondent Bob Simon for an in-depth, honest conversation about his life and a lifetime in musical theatre, on television, and in film. He "is one of the most versatile performers we've ever met," says Simon. "I'm a lyrically driven person," he tells Simon. "That's why I love Sondheim. That's why I love Shakespeare. Conor Oberst was the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC last night. He and the band performed "Zigzagging Toward the Light," off his new album, Upside Down Mountain, his Nonesuch Records debut, released earlier this year. You can watch the performance here. Oberst performs holiday-season benefit shows in New York and California in December and releases an exclusive 7" vinyl single for Record Store Black Friday on November 28.

Lianne La Havas joined Prince on Saturday Night Live this past weekend to perform “Clouds,” from his new album, Art Official Age, recently released on Warner Bros. Records. La Havas, who released her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough?, on Nonesuch in 2012, contributed vocals to the track on Prince's album and to open his special eight-minute set on the show Saturday night on NBC. The Black Keys, who are currently touring North America on their Turn Blue world tour, recently sat down to discuss life on the road in a new video. The video offers a look on stage and behind the scenes as band mates Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney talk about the evolution of their touring life, from humble beginnings to now, when the important things remain the same, despite the change in venues. See what they have to say here. The tour heads to Vancouver Thursday  before headed back to the US West Coast. Wilco was the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, performing "A Magazine Called Sunset" plus a web-exclusive take on "Cars Can't Escape," both of which are featured on their forthcoming box set of rare studio and live recordings, Alpha Mike Foxtrot. Also on The Tonight Show, Wilco's Tweedy joins Ewan McGregor, Jimmy Fallon, and Charles Barkley for a game of charades. You can watch that and the two performances here. Wilco begins a sold-out, three-night run at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester tonight; in early December, the band will play six, sold-out shows at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre.

Conor Oberst stopped by KEXP 90.3 in Seattle on his recent US tour. He was joined by Jonathan Wilson, who co-produced his new album, Upside Down Mountain, and his band to perform four songs off the album and a Bright Eyes tune and to talk with host Cheryl Waters. "We love everything he does," says KEXP. You can watch the session here. Oberst will perform at two holiday-season benefit shows in December: Holiday Cheer for FUV in NYC and the KCSN Benefit in Northridge, CA.

Punch Brothers were the inaugural artists-in-residence at Oberlin Conservatory through Oberlin’s American Roots Residency Fund, established by actor-comedian-alum Ed Helms. Conservatory students from a broad range of disciplines participated in the band's three-part residency on campus in the 2013–14 academic year. Oberlin has now put together a video recounting the residency, showing highlights from throughout the year's workshops and performances and talking with the band and Helms, who says: "I’ve kind of stopped being surprised at the ways in which the Punch Brothers blow my mind."
