    Devendra Banhart stopped by WFUV to talk with FUV Live host Alisa Ali and perform three songs from his new album, Ma—"Taking a Page," "Carolina," and "October 12"—which you can watch here. Banhart also spoke with Pitchfork for its The Song I Wish I Wrote series; his choice: Joan Armatrading's "Willow." "I think this is the perfect song," he says in the video you can watch here. His North American tour concludes with concerts in Montreal, Boston, Brooklyn, DC, and Philadelphia this week. He heads to Europe in January.

    Rachael & Vilray recently performed at The Club Car at The McKittrick Hotel in New York City, where public radio’s WFUV was on hand to record the set for an FUV Live show. “Like Rachael and Vilray themselves, the songs have a timeless quality and an unpredictable sense of humor,” writes Rita Houston.     Rhiannon Giddens and Yola, both nominated for Grammy Awards last week, were featured on the Austin City Limits special of performance highlights from the Americana Honors & Awards. Giddens and Francesco Turrisi performed "Wayfaring Stranger," from their album, there is no Other. Yola sang "Faraway Look" from her album, Walk Through Fire. The special aired on PBS stations over the weekend and can now be seen here.

    David Byrne and the cast of American Utopia on Broadway performed the classic Talking Heads tune "Road to Nowhere" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. The song is featured in the critically acclaimed production and on the original cast album. Before the performance, Byrne sat down to speak with Fallon about the Broadway show and to teach him a bit of his Annie-B Parson–choreographed dance moves from the show. You can watch it here.

    Mandy Patinkin was on CBC's Q while on tour in Toronto. He spoke with host Tom Power about life and music, including his new album, Children and Art. "I love these songs. They are songs that talk to me right now, at this moment," Patinkin says. "Whether it's funny, sad, meaningful, connective, they're all like little remembrances or prayers to me, or recollections ...     Chris Thile gave a thirty-minute solo set at the Fine Line in Minneapolis in August as part of the MicroShow series from MPR's The Current that can now be seen here. The set includes solo takes on music by Punch Brothers, Radiohead, and Bach, a Song of the Week from his public radio show Live From Here, and the traditional tune "Rabbit in the Log."

    Caroline Shaw performs her song "And So" with Attacca Quartet in a new video for Lincoln Center, which you can watch here. The artists perform an all-Shaw program, including works from their album Orange, in a free concert for Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival on November 14. "It's Shaw the singer and composer who shines in this video," says NPR Music's Tom Huizenga. "Shaw's voice, at turns ferocious and tender, emits a purity of purpose." He had named Orange to NPR's list of the Best New Albums of April: "An arresting tribute to the enduring art of the string quartet."

    Alarm Will Sound has released a new video for "Keening," from its recording of Donnacha Dennehy's The Hunger. Dennehy's piece explores the emotional, political, and socioeconomic devastation of Ireland’s Great Famine. The video was made by visual designer Deborah Johnson, who was inspired by the piece to connect her own explorations of inherited trauma with the libretto's documentation of the Great Famine.     Kronos Quartet has shared a video for "One Earth, One People, One Love," from Sun Rings, the group's 2002 collaboration with composer Terry Riley of which Nonesuch released the first full recording earlier this year. (This week also marks the 30th anniversary of Kronos Quartet's first full-length Riley album for Nonesuch, Salome Dances for Peace.) Directed by Willie Williams, the new video was made by Treatment Studios for the Sun Rings multimedia live show, which Kronos has performed nearly fifty times in eleven countries and will do so again this concert season.
