The Low Anthem is closing out its month-long US tour with Blind Pilot in Boston on Thursday. There's much more ahead, including shows in Europe and back in the States for several dates with Josh Ritter and a WFUV benefit with Rosanne Cash. Now, the band announces a two-week, ten-city tour with The Avett Brothers, across the Midwest, in February and March 2010.

The Low Anthem continues its cross-country tour with Blind Pilot at The Parish in Austin, Texas, tonight, as news is in that Q magazine has named Oh My God, Charlie Darwin one of the year's Top 50 albums. The Dallas Observer says the album, "quite simply, is a remarkably beautiful record, an album deserving of all the critical kudos." Magnet magazine is offering the band's take on Bob Dylan's "Dignity" as a free download.

Wilco and The Low Anthem have made the shortlist of nominees for the Uncut Music Award and are now two of just eight artists up for what Uncut has dubbed the year's "most inspiring and rewarding musical experience." The music video for The Low Anthem's "Charlie Darwin" can now be seen here at Nonesuch.com. Stereogum described it as an "affecting visual counterpart to Ben Knox Miller's fragile falsetto."

The Low Anthem's Nonesuch debut, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, finds the trio going "beyond what we've come to expect out of most young bands," says JamBase in a profile of the group. The album's opening track, "Charlie Darwin," is "a delightfully haunting number that relishes in its own simplicity, reminding us that there are still good songs being made." The band's performance of the tune is such that it "will make your scalp tingle."

Earlier this year, "Charlie Darwin," the opening track to The Low Anthem's Nonesuch debut, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, was named one of the best songs of the year by NPR. Now, the band's moving music and lyrics have been set to beautiful images in a new video by Glenn Taunton and Simon Taffe, which premieres today on Stereogum. "The solemn, solitary pathos in Glenn Taunton's animated video for Low Anthem's 'Charlie Darwin' adds another layer of melancholia to the track," says Stereogum, "offering an affecting visual counterpart to Ben Knox Miller's fragile falsetto."

The Low Anthem played its first-ever West Coast show this past weekend at Chop Suey in Seattle, meeting up with Blind Pilot on Monday to start a three-week tour together. While in Seattle, the trio stopped by KEXP to perform a four-song session; tune in tonight at 9 PM PST to hear it. Leading to this Friday's show in LA, Jeff Prystowsky spoke with LAist, which describes the new album as "chocked full of intelligent lyrics inspired by America's past and present laid gently on top of harmonies that make your heart ache."

The Low Anthem has spent the better part of the days since the release of Oh My God, Charlie Darwin this spring on the road, performing at clubs and concert halls across the United States and Europe. The trio makes a quick stop at home in Providence tonight, before touring with Blind Pilot, for a unique show at The Avon, a historic old movie house.

It was a music festival–filled fall weekend with Austin City Limits and San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass featuring a total of six Nonesuch artists: The Low Anthem, Sara Watkins, and Dan Auerbach in Austin; Emmylou Harris, Allen Toussaint, and Amadou & Mariam in San Francisco. And St. Louis welcomed Wilco to the Farm Aid benefit concert for a set Rolling Stone says "brought the crowd to its feet."

Thousands of music fans converge on Austin this weekend for the eighth Austin City Limits Music Festival. Three Nonesuch artists—The Low Anthem, Sara Watkins, and Dan Auerbach—will be among the more than 130 artists, spanning pop, country, folk, bluegrass, blues, reggae, indie rock, hip-hop, and gospel, to take the stage in Austin's Zilker Park over the coming three days.

As The Low Anthem's tour transitions from Europe back to the States next week, Lake Fever Sessions has published three performance videos the group recorded during a stop in Nashville earlier this year: "Ticket Taker," "Charlie Darwin," and "This God Damn House." The band's rich and varied influences, says Lake Fever, "create a stark, though strangely lush at times, canvas for their melodic folk tunes."

The Low Anthem closes out its European tour this week with stops in Hamburg, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Paris, before heading home to the States for Austin City Limits and an extensive US tour with Blind Pilot. And with a performance in Amsterdam this week, it's fitting that The Low Anthem is offering a free copy of its performance of Bob Dylan's "Dignity" recorded in that city when you sign up for the group's mailing list.
