Fleet Foxes' special limited-edition collection marking the tenth anniversary of their debut album, First Collection 2006–2009, is out now. The package features content spanning the early days of Fleet Foxes' career, including the self-titled full-length debut album on 12" vinyl, as well as the Sun Giant EP on 10" vinyl and the first vinyl releases of both the very limited-edition, previously only self-released The Fleet Foxes EP on 10" and B-Sides & Rarities on 10". Nonesuch Records' 1989 recording of Steve Reich's Different Trains, the Grammy Award winner for Best Contemporary Composition, and Electric Counterpoint has returned on vinyl. The album features the first recordings of the two pieces, performed by Kronos Quartet and Pat Metheny, respectively. The vinyl edition is out today, the 30th anniversary of Kronos Quartet's world premiere performance of Different Trains at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Pitchfork recently called Different Trains a "late-career masterpiece," including the album among the 200 Best Albums of the 1980s. Watch a new mini-documentary about it here.

Pianist Jeremy Denk's new album, c. 1300–c. 2000, is due February 8, 2019. The album spans seven centuries of music by twenty-four different composers, from Guillaume de Machaut to György Ligeti. "A piano recital covering 700 years of music: by most accepted definitions, that ought to be not just an oxymoron but an impossibility," says the Telegraph. Out today, Wilco (the album) (the picture disc) melds the 2009 album's acclaimed music with the whimsy of the original photography, on one vinyl disc. Wilco's seventh studio album "is all about a great band playing great original music on an album filled with great songs," says NPR. The Independent gave five stars to the "magnificent" album.

In conjunction with The Criterion Collection’s special-edition DVD and Blu-ray release of David Byrne’s 1986 film True Stories, Nonesuch and Todomundo Records release a comprehensive soundtrack, collected for the first time in one package and in film sequence: True Stories, A Film by David Byrne: The Complete Soundtrack is due on vinyl LP, CD, and digital formats on November 23, 2018. Nonesuch Store pre-orders include an exclusive, limited-edition 12” print of a production photo taken by Byrne. "I always imagined that the music written for True Stories should be heard as it is in the film," says Byrne. "It makes the most sense this way. Me singing the song that was written for John Goodman’s character, Louis Fine, always felt weird to me. It was written for that character, not for me.”

Lake Street Dive announces new tour dates for January 2019 in support of their album Free Yourself Up. The acclaimed trio Mountain Man's first album in eight years, Magic Ship, is out now. The record includes eleven originals plus interpretations of songs by Ted Lucas and Michael Hurley, and a traditional hymn—"intimate, close-harmony songs that tap into an ageless essence of traditional ballads and lullabies as they contemplate companionship, family, love and death," says the New York Times. Singer Mandy Patinkin and pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett's Diary: April/May 2018, the second in their Diary series of musical installments, is out now on Nonesuch. The fourteen tracks of this Diary entry, recorded in Bartlett's NYC studio, include two songs written by Patinkin himself plus songs by Randy Newman, Laurie Anderson, Bob Dylan, Patty Griffin, Harry Nilsson, Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Taylor Mac, Keren Ann, and Stephen Sondheim. Rostam has released a new song, "In a River," his first new song since his debut album, Half-Light, last year. Watch the video, directed by Rostam and animated by Jon Race, here. "I often want the songs I produce to be meeting places for organic and electronic sounds—old traditions and new ones," Rostam says. “‘In a River’ is new territory for me, because although it’s a studio recording, it’s pulling from one of the oldest traditions in music, a live performance in front of an audience." He performs at Belly Up in Solana Beach and The Fonda Theatre in LA this week.

Punch Brothers' first self-produced album, All Ashore, released on CD/digitally in July, is now available on vinyl. "It's a meditation on committed relationships in the present day, particularly in the present political climate," says Chris Thile. The Independent's four-star review calls it "an album of rich instrumentation and understated beauty that reveals deeper nuances on each and every listen." The Boston Globe says it's "a deeply meaningful and downright gorgeous record."
