    Gabriel Kahane's Nonesuch Records debut album, Book of Travelers, released on CD and digitally last month, is now available on vinyl. It comprises his musical travelogue about the looping railway journey across the US he embarked upon the day after the 2016 election. "Exquisitely crafted songs," says Uncut. "Musically fascinating and hauntingly empathetic." The San Francisco Chronicle calls it "extraordinary ... vivid and wholly original."Rolling Stone calls it a "stunning portrait of a singular moment in America." Kahane kicks off his tour tonight.

    Bill Frisell's classic album Nashville, first released on Nonesuch Records in 1997, will receive its first worldwide vinyl release on November 23, 2018. The vinyl edition, made in partnership with Run Out Groove, was mastered for vinyl by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound in a two-LP set pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Industry in the Netherlands. The set comes in a gatefold tip-on jacket made at Stoughton Printing with outtake photos from the sessions. Limited to 3,000 copies worldwide, the Nashville vinyl edition is available to pre-order now.

    Composer, pianist, and singer Gabriel Kahane's Nonesuch Records debut album, Book of Travelers, is out now. It comprises his musical travelogue about the looping railway journey across the US he embarked upon the day after the 2016 election. He left behind his cell phone and other internet-connected devices, spending the next two weeks with dozens of strangers whose stories are woven into the cycle. "[An] articulate, musically far-reaching travelogue," says Uncut. "Exquisitely crafted songs … Musically fascinating and hauntingly empathetic." Kahane begins a tour on September 7, when the album is out on vinyl.

    Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly's Peter Pears: Ceremonial Music Remixes is out now on Nonesuch. It includes reimagined versions of two tracks from their album Peter Pears: Balinese Ceremonial Music: "Balthasar" remixed by E*vax (of Ratatat) and "Eusebius" remixed by Kid Koala. ​Drowned in Sound called the album "exceptional ... simultaneously tense and light, dramatic and calming, an originality which few albums can fully lay claim to."

    The acclaimed trio Mountain Man's first album in eight years, Magic Ship, will be released on September 21, 2018, via Nonesuch Records (Bella Union in Europe). The record, their first for Nonesuch, includes eleven original songs written by the trio, plus interpretations of Ted Lucas' "Baby Where You Are," Michael Hurley's "Blue Mountain," and the traditional hymn "Bright Morning Stars." Three tracks from the album—"Window," "Rang Tang Ring Toon," and "Stella"—are available now. Nonesuch Store pre-orders also include a limited-edition, signed print; bundle options include an exclusive tote bag.

    Nonesuch Records' 1998 Grammy-winning recording of Steve Reich's landmark piece Music for 18 Musicians, performed by Steve Reich and Musicians, is back on vinyl. First released on vinyl in a limited run for Record Store Day 2015, the album, mastered for vinyl by Robert C. Ludwig, is now available at a new, low price, pressed on two 140-gram vinyl LPs at Pallas Manufacturing in Diepholz, Germany. The New York Times says: "It would be hard to think of any American music more important than this."

    Punch Brothers' first self-produced album, All Ashore, is out now on CD/digitally on Nonesuch, with the vinyl out September 7. "It's a meditation on committed relationships in the present day, particularly in the present political climate," says Chris Thile. The Independent's four-star review calls it "an album of rich instrumentation and understated beauty that reveals deeper nuances on each and every listen." The Boston Globe says it's "a deeply meaningful and downright gorgeous record."

    Guatemalan-born singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno and American musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer Van Dyke Parks mark US Independence Day with the release of their heartfelt interpretation of Trinidadian artist David Rudder's 1998 song "The Immigrants." "It's a powerful message of courage, love and faith that resonates to this day and should be spread wide across the entire nation and beyond," says Moreno. "We all share the same dreams, and we came here to fulfill them and to prosper, together." Parks adds: "'The Immigrants' has a political punch, while also being joyful and underscoring how our culture is refreshed by immigrants like Gaby, and how those who arrive here can really redefine, and help build America." Proceeds will be donated to CARECEN, which empowers Central Americans and all immigrants by defending human and civil rights, working for social and economic justice, and promoting cultural diversity.

    Olivia Chaney's new album, Shelter, is out now on Nonesuch. Produced by Thomas Bartlett, the album is eight original songs plus Chaney's takes on songs by Purcell and the Everly Brothers. She has also released a video for the track "House on a Hill," filmed at the rustic, 18th-century cottage in the hills of the North Yorkshire Moors where she wrote the record. Watch it here. The Observer cites Chaney's "dazzling vocals" and calls Shelter "an elegant, luminous album." Uncut calls it "transcendent refuge from the storm." The Daily Mirror says it's "a triumph." Chaney performs in London on June 19; tickets are on sale now for her North American summer tour.
