John Adams's Doctor Atomic Symphony, an all-instrumental work based on his 2005 opera, Doctor Atomic, is out now. Conductor David Robertson leads the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra in first recordings of both Doctor Atomic Symphony and 2001's Guide to Strange Places. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch calls it "a pair of brilliant performances." The Guardian says the title piece has "captured in furious brass explosions and Adams's vivid orchestration," and the album "rewards repeated listening."

Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica's recording of the complete Mozart violin concertos is out in a two-disc set on Nonesuch today. The Scotsman says "there's magic" on this recording from the "brilliant violinist" and gives it a perfect five stars. "This double album is truly sensational," exclaims the review ... There isn't a single moment where the interest pales, or the energy saps, or Kremer fails to surprise us." New Statesman says Kremer "captures the restlessness of the young Mozart," while the Kremerata "plays with tight ensemble and gleamingly honed tone." The double-disc set is currently the CD of the Week on the UK's Classic FM Morning Show.

Disfarmer, Bill Frisell's latest Nonesuch release, is out now. The Times (UK) gives it four stars. "Frisell’s filmic themes summon up the ghosts of a lost America. The results are gently beautiful." The BBC calls it "quietly impressive ... a patchwork quilt sewn with empathy, warmth and a sense of weary pathos. The result is a subtle, but moving experience. Jazz Times describes the album as "26 majestic, melodic vignettes evoking bygone honkytonks and tumbleweed towns ... Like a great film score, Disfarmer's success rests on a great motif."

Bill Frisell's latest album, Disfarmer, is out now. The Observer gives it four stars, finding it done "brilliantly" by "guitar maestro" Frisell. The Independent gives it four stars as well, calling Frisell "not just the outstanding jazz guitarist of his era but also the most diversely prolific," following, as the album does, his recent "sublime compilation" of Folk Songs. Four more stars from the Evening Standard, describing Frisell's soundscape as "a peaceful world where the twin streams of jazz and country-and-western meet in gentle confluence." The Boston Phoenix sees Frisell as "one of jazz's great impressionists" and Disfarmer "the perfect subject for one of his audio mini-movies."

NPR describes Frisell as "a guitar tactician with warmth and a composer of unclassifiable songs," and, on this album (inspired by the work of the late photographer Michael Disfarmer), "the quiet tactician of the electric guitar, who engineers loops and subtle distortions with phrasing you never knew you were expecting." NPR concludes: "It's a record alternately spare and full, languid and rollicking, pastoral and urbanely produced."

Voltaic, the multimedia celebration of Björk's Volta tour, is now available in the US from Nonesuch Records. Yesterday's release day was marked by a guest DJ appearance from the Icelandic songstress on NPR's All Songs Considered. Björk speaks with the show's host, Bob Boilen, about some of her favorite artists, chooses a song from each, featuring music from Syria, Russia, the UK, and Icleand, and explains what she finds appealing in each. Wilco (the album) is out today, and to mark the occasion, Paste magazine has devoted its entire web site to the new record, dubbing it Wilco (The Takeover), explaining: "It's no secret that Paste kind of has a thing for the band Wilco." The magazine says the album "is full of thoughtful, artfully crafted lyrics wrapped in memorable hooks that should stand the test of time." In an interview with Jeff Tweedy, Time calls Wilco "one of America's most innovative and acclaimed rock bands." Bloomberg gives the record three-and-a-half stars, saying, "The new album has much to recommend." The Washington Post calls it "spectacular ... a skywritten love letter to the gentler, dreamier corners of the Wilco canon." The Philadelphia Daily News gives it an A-, praising its "several kinds of wonderful."

Today is release day for Christina Courtin's self-titled Nonesuch debut. To mark the occasion, Christina will appear on WNYC's Soundcheck to talk about the new record and perform a few songs from it. The Washington Post's Express Night Out says: "Courtin's voice is effortless adaptable, weaving in and out of the instrumentation, constantly playing with texture and volume, never particularly anxious about how it sounds, but never perfectly content, either ... It may only be her debut album, but considering her confirmed songwriting and singing abilities, Courtin already sounds like a veteran."

Shawn Colvin's new Live album is out on Nonesuch today. And in celebration of its release, AOL Music is streaming the album in its entirety for the New Music Releases Full CD Listening Party. The album includes 15 songs from throughout Colvin's career, including 12 written or co-written by her, as well as covers of songs by Robbie Robertson, Gnarls Barkley, and Talking Heads. All orders placed in the Nonesuch Store through July 21 include the exclusive bonus download "Another Long One" and are registered to win a signed Martin guitar.

Björk's Voltaic release, documenting in music and video her two-year Volta tour, is due out on Nonesuch next week. Now, and all week leading up to the event, NPR.org is offering an Exclusive First Listen to the entire Voltaic album of songs recorded live in studio at the tour's start. "Björk's music is complex, mysterious and full of unpredictable sonic textures," says NPR's Bob Boilen. "The brilliant performances on Voltaic make it clear that Björk isn't just a visionary, but also an artist who inspires those around her to create equal parts music and magic, in an effort to bring her vision to life."

Christina Courtin's self-titled Nonesuch debut is out now. The Huffington Post calls its mix of a multitude of sounds and styles "a wonderful concoction, with intoxicating moody numbers" and "gorgeous lines" of lyrics. The review notes "Courtin's toasty-warm, reassuring vocal," her "lilting, breathy voice" as what "steers her adventures through layers of hypnotic music and production." Time Out New York calls the record "superb" and "beautifully textured," crediting "Courtin’s commanding voice." She talks to New York magazine about discovering that voice as the subject of the magazine's "Breaking" feature.

Wilco helped celebrate Record Store Day this past April with the early DVD release of the concert film Ashes of American Flags in independent retailers across the US. This weekend, the people behind Record Store Day launch Vinyl Saturday, and Wilco's on board again: Nonesuch releases a special limited-edition 7" single featuring the track "You Never Know," off the band's forthcoming release Wilco (the album), paired with the previously unreleased tune "Unlikely Japan" on the B-side.
