    Gabriel Kahane recently joined singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers in the Spotify Studios in New York City to put their own spin on The Cure's classic tune "Friday I'm in Love"—Kahane as co-producer and on all of the instruments, Bridgers on vocals. The song is available now as part of the Spotify Singles series and can be heard here.

    Aria Code, the new Rhiannon Giddens–hosted podcast series from The Metropolitan Opera and WQXR, launches today. The series, which takes a closer look at some of opera's legendary arias, opens with a look at Verdi's La Traviata and Violetta's Act I finale. The New Yorker says of the podcast: "It's a stunner on all levels, elegantly produced, with a heavenly blend of music and insight." Hear it here.

    Lake Street Dive's Rachael Price was on Live From Here with Chris Thile broadcast live from The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday. She sat in with Thile and the band throughout the show and stepped out to perform the classic Steve Winwood–penned Blind Faith tune "Can't Find My Way Home" and the Bruce Hornsby / Chaka Khan tune "Love Me Still," both of which you can watch here.

    Laurie Anderson will take part in five events in San Francisco as SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director this week, November 28–December 2. The residency includes a listening party and conversation, programs called Songs for Women and Songs for Men, a drone-based sonic installation with Lou Reed's guitars, and scenes from a radio play.

    k.d. lang performs a concert celebrating her critically acclaimed 1992 album Ingénue from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, TX, in k.d. lang – Landmarks Live in Concert: A Great Performances Special, premiering on Friday, December 14, on PBS. The special features an uninterrupted performance of the complete Ingénue album, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," a previously unreleased song, and an interview with lang.     In conjunction with The Criterion Collection’s special-edition DVD and Blu-ray release of David Byrne’s 1986 film True Stories, Nonesuch and Todomundo Records release a comprehensive soundtrack, collected for the first time in one package and in film sequence: True Stories, A Film by David Byrne: The Complete Soundtrack is now available on vinyl LP, CD, and digital formats. "I always imagined that the music written for True Stories should be heard as it is in the film," says Byrne. "It makes the most sense this way.”

    Mambo Sinuendo, Ry Cooder’s 2003 Grammy Award–winning collaboration with Cuban guitar legend Manuel Galbán, has returned on vinyl for the first time in some fifteen years. "Mambo Sinuendo creates a time-warped neverland where unhurried melodies hover above subtly swaying Cuban rhythms," says the New York Times, "as the two guitar masters trade slides and twangs with a droll sense of romance."

    Bill Frisell's classic album Nashville, first released on Nonesuch Records in 1997, is now available worldwide on vinyl for the first time. The vinyl edition, made in partnership with Run Out Groove, was mastered for vinyl by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound in a two-LP set pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Industry in the Netherlands. Limited to 3,000 copies worldwide, the set comes in a gatefold tip-on jacket made at Stoughton Printing with outtake photos from the sessions.

    Happy Black Friday! Lake Street Dive has released Freak Yourself Out, a new, limited-edition, black 10" vinyl EP for Record Store Day: Black Friday. The EP features five songs recorded during the sessions for the band's album Free Yourself Up that had not been finished. Uncut and Mojo have published their lists of the Best of 2018, and included among them are David Byrne's American Utopia, Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet's Landfall, Olivia Chaney's Shelter, and Jonny Greenwood's Phantom Thread soundtrack.

    Olivia Chaney will perform music from her new album, Shelter, and more on tour in England in March 2019. The tour begins in Whitstable on March 3, followed by shows in London, Southampton, Cambridge, Bristol, and Manchester. The Southampton show falls on International Women’s Day and will feature a specially curated program to include songs by Chaney’s favorite female songwriters.
