Laurie Anderson performs the song "Only an Expert," off her new album, Homeland, on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight. She will sign copies of the album at New York's Other Music shop next week. AnOther magazine calls Homeland "art of the highest order; daring and poetic it speaks truth where other important artists of the day have not, and, ultimately, shows us that Anderson is still at the top of her spy game."

The San Francisco Chronicle describes the play as "an irresistible waltz through some of Sondheim's most memorably melodic songs" and gives "wild applause" to the cast album featuring Zeta-Jones and Lansbury, calling it "a treasure."

She was recently featured on PRI's Studio 360 and appears on PRI's Echoes today. The Philadelphia Inquirer says Anderson's "current projects suggest that, at 63, she's at a late-middle-age creative peak."

Journal Topics: Artist NewsTelevisionFriday,July 2,2010The Barbican joins the Theatre Royal Stratford East in presenting a two-week run of performances of John Adams's 1995 music theatre piece I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky at the Theatre Royal, opening tonight. The BBC previews the production, saying: "John Adams is arguably America's unofficial national composer." The London Philharmonic performs his Doctor Atomic Symphony at London's Royal Festival Hall.

The Pulitzer Prize–winning piece Double Sextet, performed here by eighth blackbird, has been cited "among the finest pieces of our time" by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Bang on a Can perform 2x5, which premiered at the Manchester International Festival on a double bill with Kraftwerk and expands Reich's musical palate with rock instrumentation.

Reich will be interviewed by WNYC's John Schaefer, who chaired the jury that chose Reich's Double Sextet for the Pulitzer Prize. Nonesuch will release a recording of that piece, paired with 2x5, later this year.
