Natalie Merchant was a guest on the Today show this morning, performing "Jealousy" and "Wonder" from her forthcoming album, Paradise Is There: The New Tigerlily Recordings. The album, due out next Friday, November 6, features new recordings of the beloved songs of her multi-platinum solo debut album, Tigerlily, as they have evolved over two decades of live performance. Lianne La Havas was a special guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, sitting in with the house band, led by Jon Batiste, throughout the show. Rhiannon Giddens will take part in "Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America" on Friday, November 20, at 8 PM ET/PT. The concert will be recorded at The Shrine Auditorium in LA on Wednesday, November 18. The two-hour special event will air across A+E Networks and iHeartRadio music stations across the US. Giddens will join artists including Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, Jamie Foxx, Tori Kelly, John Legend, Miguel, Pink, Jill Scott, Ed Sheeran, Sia, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, and Pharrell Williams for the event, including a once-in-a-lifetime series of duets, focused on creating reconciliation and positive change in local communities.

Audra McDonald will take part in a very special performance, "A Celebration of American Creativity," at The White House tonight, as part of the series In Performance at the White House. They will join President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and performers including Buddy Guy, Queen Latifah, Keb' Mo', Smokey Robinson, Esperanza Spalding, Brian Stokes Mitchell, James Taylor, and Usher, with special readings and remarks from Carol Burnett, in celebration of art and literature in unique American musical forms. The event will stream live at whitehouse.gov/live starting at 7:25 PM ET tonight. A Celebration of American Creativity: In Performance at the White House will premiere on PBS on Friday, January 8, 2016.

Lianne La Havas was the musical guest on CBS This Morning: Saturday this past weekend. She performed three songs from her recently released album Blood: "Green and Gold," "Unstoppable," and "What You Don't Do." CBS This Morning host Anthony Mason called her "remarkable." You can see why in the performances here. La Havas is touring North America through the end of October.

The Arcs made their television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday, joined by Mariachi Flor de Toloache to perform "Outta My Mind," the first single off Yours, Dreamily, their debut album. "With the music video's psychedelic light show emanating in the background," says Rolling Stone, "the Arcs delivered a riveting take on the track, including a killer Auerbach guitar solo." Watch it here. The band, who played a sold-out show at NYC's Bowery Ballroom Saturday night streamed live on Yahoo, tours Europe in November and North America in December.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the debut of Ken Burns's acclaimed documentary The Civil War, PBS will rebroadcast the series over five consecutive nights starting Labor Day Monday, September 7. This is the first presentation of a newly restored, high-definition version of the landmark documentary. This is also the first time the film will be seen with the same fidelity and framing as the negative that Burns and his co-cinematographers Allen Moore and Buddy Squires shot more than 25 years ago. The film's soundtrack, released on Nonesuch Records in 1990, won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album.

Rhiannon Giddens, Emmylou Harris, and Rodney Crowell 's very special performance in The Gospel Tradition: In Performance at the White House, from April, receives its TV broadcast premiere on PBS stations across the US this Friday, June 26, at 9 PM ET. They join President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and an esteemed group of performers, including Aretha Franklin, Darlene Love, and Lyle Lovett, to pay tribute to the fundamental role gospel music has played in the American musical tradition. Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, whose new duets album, The Traveling Kind, is due out May 12, stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman as musical guests on the show last night. They sang a special rendition of the gospel tune "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" in tribute to Letterman, whose final episode as host will air later this month, joined by Steve Martin on banjo, Amos Lee on guitar and vocals, and Mark O'Connor on fiddle. Rhiannon Giddens was the subject of a feature on PBS NewsHour, looking at her solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. "Her debut celebrates women who influenced her, some famous like Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline, others, like Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Libba Cotten, much less so," says NewsHour's Jeffrey Brown.
